Problems in BOINC

Hi all,

I downloaded the BOINC Agent but it isn't working. The message that is displayed in my screen saver is : " The World Community Grid BOINC Agent is not currently running any research application" - what shall I do?

Thank you, Fabiane.

Re: Problems in BOINC

Please will you open BOINC Manager and copy the messages for us?

Thank you.

Re: Problems in BOINC

You have to attach to the project as well as install the agent. BOINC is capable of running multiple projects not just WCG, see my sig below. The master URL for WCG is "www.worldcommunitygrid.org", you will also need to know your username and password.

Given it says WCG BOINC agent it comes with WCG pre-attached. Sometimes though the account_key fails to transit properly which is easily remedied. Didactylos posted the shortest "how to" on this. The technicians are working to remedy this in a future WCG custom kit.... if that is what it is but we'll know when the message log is posted.

cheers

Re: Problems in BOINC

What happens if you don't have any projects selected in My Projects? What would the message be then?

Re: Problems in BOINC

Does not compute, therefore not possible. Try saving it and find out.

Yep, i would be logical:
Device Manager
Device Profiles

* At least one project must be selected

Device Profile Name: Default

Re: Problems in BOINC

Hi Fabiane.

As far as I can tell, BOINC is failing to get an Internet connection at all. Usually there would be an error message following the "Fetching scheduler list" message, which makes me suspect that your security software is blocking BOINC.

What security software do you use? Do you use a proxy?
