Hi Folks,
Apologies in advance if this question has already been asked. I did a search for this topic but couldn't find anything dealing with my specific question. It occurred to me that, as BOINC will not currently allow a user to determine how many CPU hours have been used on a particular project, it is difficult to know when one has met the 14-day criteria for a Project Badge. So, why not create a range of badges based on total CPU time or accumulated points? The badge could use the WCG icon - a pair of five crossing lines. Under this would be the number of accumulated points. Targets could be set at 10,000 accumulated points (AP), 25,000AP, 50,000AP, 100,000AP and so on. I hope you think the idea is worthy of further consideration. JPC |

One meets the criteria for 14 days of work when the badge shows up. Otherwise, just keep crunching. Since there is a validation delay, workunits from several days ago might give you approval, as it did in my case.
---------------------------------------- I last received a couple of #26, so there's only one more fortnight after that. I did not have broadband installed until partway through the AC@H project. Faster computers also require more workunits to get the same amount of runtime.I'm not sure how the "points" thing will work once we are BOINC only. There's a conversion here to combine BOINC with UD results, which probably will not be done in the future. Your points badge sounds like something like some of the teams provide...something regardless of projects. Boerni used to make little stars for so many points, but that procedure broke due to heavy traffic on his website. I have copies of them. (sort of like this for my own case) 4 million points = ![]() I don't recall the exact codes any more since grid.org went away. The stars were dynamically calculated and went down to about 5,000 points, I think. Here was his latest stat site http://boerni.bo.ohost.de/index.php?section=10 Unfortunately, it's one of the cheapie places that does not allow external linking. Accumulated Points: 4,079,897 4 one million stars 1 fifty thousand star 2 ten thousand stars 1 five thousand star Mousie's dcstat is still the most compact and probably the best here for speed for overall BOINC project/points. It remains in my SIG. For illustration, others have some color changing and formatting capability, but become unwieldy after a lot of projects. The objective though in their own forums, may be to have a lot of projects. boinc.mundayweb: boinc.mundayweb team stats: free-dc:

AC@H was changed to give a badge after only one day of processing. If you don't have one, there's a little more time to work on it. The last fortnight's work should be going out soon.

Retsof,
Many thanks for the replies, which are most helpful. I hadn't realized that BOINC issued the badges automatically on completion of the usual 14 days CPU time. That makes me feel more optimistic. So, the problem is just that BOINC is not currently able to display the number of CPU hours per project even though it's keeping a record of this figure. It's beginning to make sense. Thanks also for the tip about AC@H. I'll switch to that on completion of my current WU (DDD-T). JPC |

...So, the problem is just that BOINC is not currently able to display the number of CPU hours per project even though it's keeping a record of this figure... JPC I am not sure there IS any record of individual project points count, after the 2 weeks visible in our Results Status page. Can someone clarify? I would like to see each project issue an updated badge when we pass milestone points figures. At the moment the badges dont mean much. |

Thanks Sek for the clarification. Spot on. Sorry I missed all the previous discussion on this - I have been out of the fora for some time until recently. I did do a search on this issue, but did not find an answer. I wonder, perhaps, could the forum search facilities be improved...or has someone already asked about this and is patience required...I know - I'll do a search!
