3. Overclocking and SpeedStep cannot live together in harmony.


How true - and another consequence having it speedstep activated for Boinc users is that you will usually end up with a lower benchmark as a consequence - as when it suspends the WU's to run the benchmark, the multiplier will drop because you are no longer running at full throttle and you will bench at a lower speed.


Thanks for the information Ady and Blizzie!! Strange but I can only find Speedstep on the ... ok I will say it right ... Gateway machine. Not on the HP's and Dell Q6600. The Gateway is back up to %100 CPU and running fine at 38C. smile

Sometimes the motherboards that come with these 'mass' produced machines come with very limited bios features - on most decent motherboards the setting should be under 'CPU Configuration' or similar..........oh, another setting to disable in the bios for overclocking is C1E wink

Indeed. There are some others things you want to disable too. But it's motherboard specific.
