Re: BOINC agent and number oof CPUs

The code was added somewhere in Jan/Feb.

Not sure at all how it behaves for reinstalls after uninstall that are re-registering from within a LAN with dynamic IP. We hear little, but given that some organisations use Deep Freeze, and do clean installs on a daily basis, I think is working fine.

It was confirmed that hiding the Local Domain caused it to not be recognised, but since the implementation I changed and did hide the info and WCG still found it based on the remaining data. It just changed the Device Name to the known Device ID on the Device Manager view, so now my devices have numbers instead of names.

Some pointers were given to avoid new device recordings in the FAQ. What's important is those little files like account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml. In there is:

<authenticator>0ff801cda57e5c375ef36df6e123e189</authenticator>

If they are left alone or restored, it increases the chance of recognition. Whilst most have Dynamic ISP IP, organisations usually have a fixed one, so that will help to correlate.
