I have BOINC 5.10.30 installed in my home machine running Vista. I had downloaded some ACH WUs in this machine to be processed. But the broadband at my home has some issues and is not working for last 2 days. It's not likely to be back in another week. The Report Deadline is within next 2-3 days. The WUs are processed now and BOINC is trying to upload the results to server. As there is no Internet to the machine now, it's failing. It's not possible for me to move the machine around to a place where there is an Internet connection.
----------------------------------------I have the same version of BOINC installed in my work machine running Windows XP. Is there a way I can bring the results from home machine to work machine using a flash and return those back to the server. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 6, 2008 2:32:53 PM] |

You could try copying the *whole* BOINC+subdirs to a jumpdrive, carry it to the other machine, copy it to a separate directory, the whole shabang, and fire up boincmgr from file explorer. If same OS/ CPU type you may be lucky.
----------------------------------------*Before* copying, set work fetch to off! You don't want the machine to create another condition where WCG tries to identify the device and declares that the work returned does not belong to that computer. The servers remember 5 conditions including local LAN IP address and domain name to which the work originally was send!!!!!! Dont fire up from the jumpdrive!
WCG

I'vs got the answers.
Problem 1 - Security of sensitive information. Answer - Two flash drives. Problem 2 - Stopping the use of UD. Answer - ICS. OT I've noticed something strange. My setup was 2x socketA (both XP homeSP2) and i could reboot/disconnect the second machine without it affecting this one, but since i have gone dual-core on this one a reboot/disconnect causes my USB tvtuner (and sometimes even WMP) to freeze. I guess thats progress. :-) |

OS/CPU type are not the same. Home has Vista running on Intel Core 2 Duo, where as work has Win XP running on Intel Pentium D.

Internet is back at home machine now and BOINC successfully uploaded the results, but reported late.
