I hope that *all* of you are doing well; especially all of you in areas that have storms, floods and other situations. Thanks JC. The situation here in NY varies from person to person, community to community. Some are doing well as if nothing really happened, others are in shelters or living with relatives as their homes are no longer habitable. NYC is a tale of two cities with 40th Street (about) being the demarcation line. One going about its business as if nothing really has happened, and another is without power, cold, and the weather is getting colder starting tonight. Nassau county (suburb of east of NYC) is having many problems the news media is not really broadcasting as compared to NYC. Nassau is having a bad gas shortage and anecdotal stories of fights in gas lines, waiting 3-5 hours for gas, gas lines 2 miles long, illegal gas siphoning. looting in Brooklyn, are the stories I have heard. The sewage treatment facility in Island Park, NY just came online yesterday and hopefully some people in Baldwin, NY will not have any more raw sewage back up in the streets and in their homes (NEWS12 a local Cablevision station broadcasted that story). Power outages may last another week for some, and power is being restored to effected communities. The good news is mass transit is slowly coming back online, gas is finally being allowed to be delivered to the refineries (well that ones that are still operational), and we have been told that gasoline is coming. And yes, we now have a nor'easter with snow that may hit us this coming Wednesday or Thursday with estimated 45 mph winds. It may not occur, but we are now being warned. But fear not, two massive generators are being run 24/7 in Central Park â to juice a media tent for Sunday's New York City Marathon. The three diesel-powered generators crank out 800 kilowatts enough to power 400 homes in ravaged areas like Staten Island, the Rockaways and downtown Manhattan. The gasoline shortage is bad, a local gas station nearby to me had five fights and one stabbing recently and New Jersey has started gasoline rationing. It can really test your 'mettle' and I hope that all will get through this mess. All of this makes stuff like the FREE-DC stats being down for a tad (time issue?) seem so trivial. ![]() |

----------------------------------------Team Mates to pass milestones soon. Thanks for the info about the graphics card (from a fellow Co-Captain; Team Mate). I'm getting this when booting my database server. Mobo dying ? Spent all evening working on it, but this might be the end of the stats. Can't get it to boot at all now. It's a Gigabyte mobo with a core i7 2600k. Webserver is fine, so forums will be ok, but stats are going to be down until I can figure this out. And I'm heading out of town for a couple of days, I'll think about the options whilst away. Got to be up in about 4 hours and then drive for 9 hours to Pittsburgh. |
