Re: One Device missing?

Well, thom_raindog - it seems your work units are validating now. Please let us know if you have any further problems.

For reference, you can track your work unit progress through validation here: Results Status.

Re: One Device missing?

Hmm.. the first 7 results in progress all show 0 CPU-Time and 0 points.. is that supposed to be normal?

And, no, my problem was/is not just the validating. Even back before I reinstalled I had boinoc on both machines for month and the second machine never got any credit nor showed up on the results list (so there might be some improvement with that unknown machine in the list..)

Re: One Device missing?

On that list, CPU time and claimed points will only be shown once the work has been returned.

Try this guide to the work unit lifecycle: http://www.wcgwiki.org/en/boinc/validation.cfm

Re: One Device missing?

After reading this Wikientry "In Progress" that WU has been sent to my machine and the machine is still working on it..
And the fact that the machine has a device name that is a 6 digit number (that is NOT what my machine is actually called) might mean that I now finally have both machines working, however I might have achieved that?
In which case, I would just need to sit back and relax and have the results come in and things will be good?

And thanks for patiently answering all my noobish questions :)

Re: One Device missing?

If WCG can't read your internal LAN IP address or Domain name, the device falls back to showing the Device ID. In the BOINC message tab log at start up the number is shown in a line like this:

18/02/2008 10:12:02|World Community Grid|URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID: 123456; location: work; project prefs: work

I would presume that the number on your result status page matches with one of your 2 clients.
