When the UD agent is finished, kaput & no longer in use, does this mean we can drop the totally outdated scoring system and revert to having only the more normal standard BOINC only? Thereby saving time/space in having to calculate both.

I like this idea as well. It would not even bother me if the UD points were converted to BOINC, even though that will drop my ranking substantially.

Nothing has been announced. I feel sure that UD points will not show up on other BOINC sites. My personal opinion is that we should simply reverse the current practice of multiplying BOINC points by 7 and instead divide UD points by 7 for the WCG web site point history.

That regrettably would lead to perpetuating confusion as those totals would still not match with what shows in the agent project tab. Maybe split the My Grid cumulative data to show old and new agent totals. Both in Legacy and in BOINC credits.

This has been discussed a couple of times behind the scenes. Either way, some people are going to be unhappy.
As far as I know, WCG have yet to make a final decision. There is no technical reason why WCG shouldn't import credit from the UD system into the BOINC system. The BOINC developers would be supportive, if not necessarily overjoyed (the cobblestone isn't a pure unit by any stretch of the imagination). Other BOINC teams may be very annoyed indeed. |

Why not take the SETI route? They had a similar problem with Classic & Boinc....

Would someone please explain what SETI did with regard to the two point systems.

They froze the credits from their "SETI Classic" client, and started from zero with BOINC. The final credits from the Classic system are still available on their website, but now the credits are almost invisible and forgotten.

One thing we know is, if the UD points were to be converted it would cause some major Team Ranking reshuffle at the BOINCstats, BOINCSynergy, AllProjects.com and other sites. For WCG internal not an issue so much, but on what's called BOINC wide, major. WCG's biggest team would jump from 26 to about 7 e.g.
