Cargod makes 10 million points!!! Woot! ![]() TY Our new IT guy is giving me a hassle over BOINC, so I have been looking at a way to hide it. A few new people have called him and asked, what is this thing in my system tray...they're just sure it is slowing them down. So I need to find a way to hide the systray icon... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If you run Boinc as a service, you cant see it in the systray.

If you run Boinc as a service, you cant see it in the systray. I was just going to say that :) Another thing I do is limit the time they can communicate the results back and get new work to anytime outside 09:00-17:30 to keep the IT chaps happy as I was using a fair bit of bandwidth. |

What is funny is I run game programs that would let me know if BOINC was eating anything as far as speed goes. They not only test your machine’s ability, but your connect as well. Kind of like a really fun platform tester. The last thing you want to trust your virtual life to is a shaky setup. There might be issues outside my understanding, but gamers are very paranoid about their machines. So if I am here and running BOINC there as well as the game without a hitch, it says something.
----------------------------------------Don’t let them get paranoid on you! If a person comes to you, tell them you will turn it off and on remotely for a week or 2. If he/she can say which day it was off and on, then they may have something. If not, and I’m pretty darn sure it will be not, then tell them this for me: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
