Hey, I finally got my roommate to reinstall WCG on his computer so my points should jump up as a result.

If anyone is interested in a Quad-core kit, look here at a special that Tiger Direct has for $600 thru tomorrow. I've bought from them before so I get regular emails from them on specials. It's a kit so you have to put it together. I'm not the expert like Blizzie on hardware but thought I'd share this with the team.

Motherboard isn't the best for Quads since it's a 680i chipset; but it works great if you're not overclocking. And everything else is just there. If it's not that tough, I would be tempted to go this route, buy a ridiculous graphics card and let this run for a few years. |

Also, am I reading this right when it says you have to install everything yourself? I think that would be overly ambitious. I'm ok installing graphics cards and harddrives, but installing a mobo, cpu, cpu fan, power supply, etc. sounds pretty complicated. |

I'm ok installing graphics cards and harddrives, but installing a mobo, cpu, cpu fan, power supply, etc. sounds pretty complicated. Ahaha. Looks like they ship you the parts and you have to install it yourself. CPU cooler not included. There are two general types of CPU coolers. Push pins and the other.. what is it called.. well the other one is like bolted. The push pin ones is quick and easy; lock the pins, align, push. The bolted ones you have to take the motherboard out of the box to install and it can take a few tries. It's kind of complicated but it's not impossible to figure out. The thing is that it's kind of scary if you're new to it all since you don't want to break anything. It's not as hard as you think it is. I'd show you if you were closer here. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 7, 2008 4:30:54 AM] |
