Yeah, my plan is "run what i brung" until it gets too hot, then I'm afraid almost everything is getting shutdown... unless I get that new PC like I've been planning - if so, it's liquid cooled, so I can't imagine that would affect the air temps in my room nearly as much as an air cooled machine, would it? What's your room temperature? about 55-60 tops in winter hopefully less than 70 in summer? My E6600 with a 50% overclock stays 50 C under crunching full load with a room temperature of 61-71 F. All fans on low on AIR cooling. I'm telling you water cooling is overkill since you're not overclocking. I have a Quad Core using the stock Intel cooling. Cores at 50-57C under crunching load. Not overclocked. Max temps for a G0 stepping quad is 71C. Yeah, but knowing me, I'll probably get into overclocking soon and I want the ability to REALLY open this thing up. I'm now debating over 6600 or 6700. The 6700 is $260 more and is 2.66 ghz vs the 6600 at 2.4 ghz. My thought is that I can EASILY get the 6700 to 3 ghz. Although, if they both can hit the 3ghz mark, then I really don't care and I guess I should get the 6600 and spend the extra cash on WATER COOLING! Another question: I recently bought an Nvidia 8600 GTS from BFG TECH to replace my 6800 GT in my alienware. Would it be smart to buy another 8600 GTS from BFG TECH and run them in SLI mode in my new computer (I can put that 6800 back in my alienware)? Will I see solid performance? Is the rule that SLI doubles the performance of one card? 8800 GT > 2 8600 GTS Why? Graphic power and energy consumption. SLI does not double the performance. You get 30-40% of the performance. Thanks. That's real good advice. As far as watercooling goes, it's an INTEL CERTIFIED kit, but I'm kind of sceptical. If I have to install it myself, then I might as well buy a better aftermarket one. If they install it, then I might go for it. Otherwise, I'm just going to go for a TURBO HARDCORE big@$$ cpu cooler/fan/heatsink combo. |

You must have a great cooler or many fans, I'm getting the same temps with my E6600 without overclocking. ![]() http://blizzie.com/project-aeon/ And you get a shot at my mobo/coolers here. http://blizzie.com/thermalright-hr-05/ Nice setup there. ![]() I like the case with the 120 mm fans, I still have my good old chieftec dragon case with 80 mm fans but next time I'm gonna get a new case for sure. Those video cards are becoming larger and larger as well so I need more space. |
