confused @ the picture. What am I looking at?
hypnotized @ Dataman

My speedometer with the cruise control locked in a 135 mph on my drive out to Montana.

Dataman's is a picture of his car allegedly speeding in what is obviously a less-impressive and less cool manner.

AUDI FTW!

Hmpf, I'll be impressed when he's doing that while taking a cloverleaf exit.

Edit: Oops, mixing my MPH and KPH. He MIGHT be able to do 135KPH in a cloverleaf. Now if that was a Porche, there'd be no question. Audi, maybe. Of course, I've taken a 160 degree turn at 70MPH in a dinky little VW so it's not all just the car. laughing

Everything seems up and running for now. Keith, I'm coming at you head on.

It will take a while to build up my PV and then they have to get verified.

Well, you're still two to two and a half weeks due to catch me. You will of course, just a question of when. My C2D is fixed and I should have it back tomorrow and online by the evening. Not bad. biggrin I'll probably see you roar by by the end of next week though.....

The 9650 uses the 45nm structure and lower power usage than pretty much any of the other quad cores, which on a cruncher that runs a lot of hours adds up, but ultimately, what you can afford dictates.

I usually build the best system I can afford, saves having to upgrade quite so often, and plan so that I am upgrading cards and memory down the road, as opposed to the core components such as motherboard and processor.

I hear that the next generations of processors is going to be using a new footprint, so I don't know how much more you will be able to drop on a 775 pin motherboard.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 24 smilesmile

Hey Keith, sorry I've been so quiet everyone. Grad school is pounding my @$$ pretty raw right now. Add to that the fact that I had a pretty bad virus on my desktop and you get the general picture of how messed up my WCG participation has been recently. In any case, things should settle down in a bit. Hope all is well with you guys.

Yea I'm sorry about the lack of points for this challenge. As you all know my C2D was unstable and I've been spending the last what.. 2 weeks trying to figure out the problem. Re-overclocking and everything. Finally got it stable at 3.5 GHz with 4 GB of mismatched RAM. Lost 100 MHz and gained 2 GB of stock speed RAM instead of (1066 MHz). Hm what's better? Anyways, need to run a memtest86 overnight and overschool. Once it passes, I'm all set. Makes me feel bad since I was the one who wanted the challenge in the first place.

Jon, Blizzie, no complaints, especially with you two. We have fairly regular cycles where we have 4-6 folks that regularly post here and then it gets a bit quiet for a while and then it picks back up either from new members or some regulars again. Things happen to everyone and you have to expect any one poster to come and go some. We have other folks that I'd like to see post regularly - not multiple times a day or even every day - once or twice a week would be fine. I'm always trying to encourage folks to participate here. An active thread is always more appealing to anyone looking for a team to join. We even have someone who seems to always check out the thread not long after I post the stats but they're always in guest mode. smile Folks will come and go, interests will change, life happens. That's part of why recruiting is important. You have to keep the team going and hopefully growing. Compared to where we were a year ago, we've made some real progress. I'm not too sure that we could make a year end goal of 55 or 60 million points though, moreso looking ahead to the warmer times ahead and the apparently normal drop off that happens as summer hits. It's part of the reasons I agreed with expanding us to other projects - a chance for "cross pollenation". Managing a dozen different team threads would not be practical though so I'm looking at our options for that. What I'd really like is 96 hour days! laughing
