well, i managed to fool dataman into thinking dc stat is working correctly. it's actually misbehaving for the first 220ish people registered in the database. what i think is happening is i'm running dc stat updates at the same time wcg is updating stats....and wcg stat update finished around person 220, so everyone after that worked out fine.so, i need to tweak the scheduling again. keithhenry - looks like you post stats every night after updates....any advice on when wcg stat update generally finishes, since i guess it tends to vary? thanks! As I recall, you update your stats four times a day. I would recommend doing WCG at 3:00, 9:00, 15:00 and 21:00 UTC each day. That leaves you a bit of a buffer too. Given that WCG only updates twice a day anyway, you could do with 3:00 and 15:00 UTC. I still have to wonder if something isn't wrong with the WCG stats update process though. Maybe we'll get something on that in your thread. |

Thanks for the info - I didn't realize they only updated twice a day....I'll cut the wcg updates out of the 9:00 and 21:00 stat runs.
The times you listed are roughly the time my overall updates finish (keeping in mind that this includes updates for several other projects as well). |

Dataman...you're back. Have a good respite? Not really [gunner]. Stick a fork in me ... I'm done. ![]() I needed that ROFLOL--still shaking over retort from that idiot D that is supposed to be a community admin Hey Gerald!! Glad you got a smile. I am serious though. I’ve had my fill of WCG and the nonsense that goes on here. It is run like someone’s tax deductible hobby rather than a professional organization. Yes, some of the CA’s do seem to have developed an attitude and a bit of arrogance. That’s too bad. I moved one quad to POEM and three others to three other projects outside WCG that I think are worthwhile. I shut down the P4’s to reduce electrical costs. I did a lot of research last night and I had no idea how many good options there are now. DC has come a long way since ’04. Until now, I have crunched only for WCG. I left my best quad with MOT and will continue to produce results for the team. I could not get “Dataman” to work most places so I just made 4 unique usernames with disposable email addresses from my own domain. Looking at BOINC users, there are a few others using “Dataman” so that may be the problem. BOINC is anything but private and collects a lot of information and makes it public. I don’t care about combined points, RAC and the like so it doesn’t matter to me. There is more privacy as 5 individuals. I’m going to try to get back to the reason that got me started here in the first place; trying to do my part for some good projects. It will take a few days to drain my PV jail but I’m “officially” turning 2nd place over to Blizzie. So I will still be crunching out there in the void and will stop by frequently to say “howdy” to my MOT team. You guys and gals are great. Cheers! ![]() ![]() |

NOOOOOOOOOO! Don't leave Dataman! If you leave, how can I mock your Saleen? Who will give Blizzie a run for his money in points? I know that WCG is poorly managed; but the work that they do here is worthwhile. Stick it out for a while longer.

I've noticed that WCG isn't well maintained as Stanford's Folding@Home program; which was what I came from. It makes me wonder if these results are being put in good use.. or am I just wasting my time and money. |
