Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Who isn't a fan of pizza? Aren't you, BladeD?
We have pizzerias on every street corner - businesses some of us believe are store fronts
for drug dealing profits to be channeled elsewhere.
A few times I have bought a disappointing frozen one.
For a few years we had a Domino's at the railway square in town.
Often I was tempted - and one day I did go in and order.
Now we don't have Domino's any more.
It went belly-up in all of Denmark a few weeks ago.
Couldn't stand up to the competition thinking I suppose.
Never mind. I do prefer my own home made done from scratch biggrin
- and certainly over my old classmate's specialty
the one with anchovis and blue cheese sick

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

little mermaid,

recette / recipe

Indeed, we know more about the recipes of the regions where we live. Even if with travel and globalization, we have the opportunity to discover dishes that come from far away. For example, I did not know the Danish recipe for Christmas.
In France (as in many countries), one of the classics for Christmas is turkey with chestnuts.

recette / recipe

But if you do not eat poultry, another classic of French cuisine: Rabbit with prunes. At my grandfather's house, that's what we ate at almost every family meal. As for almost all well-known recipes, we add our personal touch, at home it was to put a few cloves.

Edit :
Congratulations little mermaid, 55 years of calculation!
hugs

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Thanks BladeD !

A recipe that I can not find the origin, but it is a delicious treat: Sweet potato fries!

Trek !

----------
As the Thomas relay was canceled, totally for a trek with CRUNCHERS SANS FRONTIERES! I have already registered in his team, and I think it's nice to show him that we are with him, even if this project did not work ...

good luck

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

thepeacemaker7, I can understand you can get your appetite up in some cases
- in the case of BladeD's close-up of 'Ubelievable Chicken' ... sick sick crying
Sweet potato fries .... I had them at a café recently, TLD, I liked them, but found them rather greasy.
Perhaps they were cooked the wrong way.
Welcome to the CRUNCHERS SANS FRONTIERES trek, stefada.
Now we are two.
I hope nap will react to my invitation to look at a badge design - I may e-mail him.

Good Morning Base Campers!
Business
We shall camp with CRUNCHERS SANS FRONTIERES March 22-27
- early arrivals welcome!
Resident cook at the camp fire: stefada!
That should attract a lot of people.
Come and eat before Louloup clears the table laughing
Chit-chat
In all modesty baking some whole wheat pancakes to be served with pineapple compote and roasted coconut

thepeacemaker7,
You guys are making me hungry again, and I just ate dinner!

laughing

In France there is a tradition when we make great meals: The Norman hole. In the middle of the meal, we pause, and drink a small glass of Calva. Then we can chain the other dishes.

little mermaid,

----------
These pancakes look delicious!

By cons, do not say bad things about Louloup shame on you

He is well educated, he does not steal food. You could even leave your plate on your chair, he would not touch it. He knows that he is on the floor or in his bowl, and after.
By the way, a reminder to Base Campers: Nobody gives him food until everyone has finished. He will have leftovers, but after us. Yes little mermaid, I insist on it, but it is very important for him to remain wise.

campfire

----------
On the menu today: Gratin Dauphinois with white ham and bacon.

As its name suggests, the recipe comes from Dauphiné, a French region (see the nice map to locate) . Traditionally there is no meat, but I think it is better with it.

Note that if the son of the King was called the Dauphin, it is related to the attachment of this province to France. Indeed, the Dauphin of the time having no heir, he concluded with the King of France that his son is, he being from birth. This practice will last until the Revolution, in 1989.

----------
And now that I've made you travel, it's time to sit down!

To accompany, we have in white wine a white Côtes d'Auvergne from Chardonnay - I thought of you little mermaid - and in red wine a Pinot Noir.
