Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Hi smspell
biggrin so good to see you here.
You have it colder than we do for the time being. I miss the sun, though .... gray, gray, gray .... sad
My soup is probably fairly similar to your skier's soup.
Carrots, potatoes, leeks, some other root vegetables that I don't know the English name for
- and added some homemade meatballs.
What is a 'bulk sausage'?

Bulk sausage is ground but not in a casing like a bratwurst. It is used in recipes and made into patties like hamburgers.
You can put the names in Danish. I have a friend that is a Polygut, he knows Danish, German, If I remember he can speak 17 languages. I wish I can. He is trying to teach me Korean. I like watching Kdramas, and other shows from other Countries. The other day I started to watch Norsemen a Norwegian comedy TV series.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Sometimes I wonder about the stats. I replaced an 8 core machine with a 24 core and all my stats dropped. How can I return more results and not see an increase in my contribution charts? confused

Hello acpartsman, I don"t know if you fix the problem, but it may be you need more rams
running MIP needs 650 Mb rams times 24 equals 15.6 GB plus win 7 and 10 needs 1 GB for 32 bit and 2 GB for 64bits. So you may need 17 GB for 32 bits and 18GB for 64 bits.
Mapping Cancer needs 400 MB times 24 = 9.6 GB plus 1/2GB for windows. All other projects need 250 times 24 = 6 GB plus 1/2 GB. If you are running Linux it will be based on distros version (Arch, Debian etc) these are the minimum amount of rams.
I hope this helps

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I have a 24 thread machine running using Linux Mint. It currently has 22 Zika units and 2 HST units running. The system monitor tells me it is currently using 1.8 gbs of memory. Unless he has some other memory hogs running, I don't think a memory bottleneck is the problem.
Cheers

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Hello Sgt.Joe. That is true he may have something running in the background hogging memory. He may have mismatched memory speed. slowing his bus speed. Manufacture may have put slower memory like 333 MHz instead of 400 MHz. to save money.
I bought a used pc 3GHZ dual core it had 333 I replaced with 400 MHz. It was running slower than my dual core 2.66 Mhz. I have not run BOINC on Linux Mint, I have on Ubuntu.
When Windows 7 support ends or maybe sooner I am going change it to Linux. For now, I am running Skywave Linux from USB boot to run ham radio software using an SDR (software defined radio)

Thou shalt not go hungry, BladeD, for when I cook a soup, I cook a lot.
Same soup, new deep dish blushing
Thank you for giving good avice to acpartsman, Capt. Joe and smspell.
It could be interesting to hear how his new addition runs now.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

little mermaid,

---------
I was just doing some advertising for the Athena Trophy, which will only start on March 18th. So you can stay with the Kraland team at least until then (and even during the challenge, but only if you want).

I also find the rules a little complicated, but as the team Kraland is committed, and Thomas works hard to organize these challenges, I try to support him. (and even without help, our results are not so bad, 26th at THOR challenge)

good luck

RAM

---------
Everything is white, it fell about 8 cm of snow tonight. It has been a long time since this happened here. Louloup still does not like it, it's too cold. And when we get home, a big bowl of soup to warm up. There is nothing like it.

Under full load I am of course using 100% of CPU but only 59% of RAM. I can have one or more 24 core machines drop out (power outage for example) and my stats hardly drop but I can lose an old quad core and they fall like rock. Makes no sense. It's almost like the points are controlled by power consumption rather than results.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

stefada, I know it's all to be kind to all of us, and I also appreciate [CSF] Thomas H.V. Dupont's
creativity and hard work not least the 2018 THOR Challenge, where Base Camp's
GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION
trek went wild.
We intend to support SeriousCrunchers the same way this year
- next year will be Kraland, my friend wink
If someone else would like to head Base Campers to support a team in a pool
in the Athena Trophy Race, it's fine with me
- you could be the liaison officer, stefada
- and I may even participate myself.
However, real life has become somewhat busier for me blushing limiting my online time.
I need things to be simple .... rolling eyes

acpartsman, I really think you should bring your observations WCG-forum-wide in a new thread
where far more of all the savvy crunchers of WCG will read it cowboy
