Is Idaho on fire, nap?
Good Afternoon Base Campers! ![]() to Base Camp’s Welcome to Team Crunchers4Life trek, acpartsman. ![]() NixChix, did you really fly that little fat (sorry: fluffy) airplane – you call it aeroplane, which indeed sounds more fitting all the way to Ohio? You say you ’didn’t hit any trees this time’ at landing ![]() That’s good. Is that something you happen to do at times? As for me, I swam, of course. I had a bit of trouble getting through the locks not to mention the bumpy part at Niagara Falls. They should really install a fish ladder big enough for mermaids. Also, I do prefer salt water over fresh water, but as long as it’s wet and liquid it’s all right. Yes, please, one more pffftt!, NixChix. Growing pile of cans? Cmptr says Noooo. I have stacked them neatly But it’s true we have plenty of space here for many more tents So far we have the these Base Campers have arrived: acpartsman Eric_Kaiser little mermaid NixChix tanner2 not bad for a start at all ![]() ![]() What Base Camp does right now We have begun our Crunchers4Life trek and should be pleased if a whole lot of experience as well as first-time Base Campers would join us. The bounty is this badge ![]() 1 WU = 1 badge. What do you say? |

WoW! TLD, are you familiar with all these species of trout?
Good Morning Base Campers! Our Crunchers4Life trek is coming along very well. This is our present crew: acpartsman Eric_Kaiser little mermaid NixChix tanner2 TLD We have all turned in work, and we are scanning the horizon for more Base Campers on their way - do we see the dust kicked up by davwhite5xq7's horses over there? Well, it settled. He turned in at the stage coach station to get a new team of horses. ![]() What Base Camp does right now We have are on the second day of our Crunchers4Life trek. We eat trout, drink beer, listen to NixChix's stories about vertical hikes in red rocks. We look into the blue Ohio sky busily munching on a grass straw waiting for Dave to arrive. We also wait for ![]() ![]() at the Licking River system - great fishing, lots of mosquitoes, we have large canisters of insect repellent. The bounty is this badge ![]() 1 WU = 1 badge. What do you say? ![]() Your badge earned at the top40.nl 2.0 trek is up in the Base Camp Hall of Fame ![]() ![]() Why this early post? Because like Monday I went salt water swimming yesterday and will do today as well ![]() - it's so wonderful it could turn into a habit - never has the water been warmer in my lifetime I'm thinking of becoming a winter bather ![]() Cmptr says Noooo - so does the mermaid ![]() |

NixChix, did you really fly that little fat (sorry: fluffy) airplane All the way from wherever we were to wherever we are now. Where are we? – you call it aeroplane, which indeed sounds more fitting all the way to Ohio? You say you ’didn’t hit any trees this time’ at landing ![]() That’s good. Is that something you happen to do at times? ![]() It is fitting for me to call the Flying Flea an aeroplane in honor of my pioneering grandfather. Everything I have read uses the terms aeroclub, aerodyne or aerodrome, so I will as well. I try not to hit trees, unlike this poor chap. It is very hard on the plane and I don't want to spend all my campfire time making field repairs. As for me, I swam, of course. That was a long swim and I can see you were/are quite thirsty. I'm going to need to fly out to refill my ice chest. I want to take a look around here anyway. Where is here?I had a bit of trouble getting through the locks not to mention the bumpy part at Niagara Falls. They should really install a fish ladder big enough for mermaids. Also, I do prefer salt water over fresh water, but as long as it’s wet and liquid it’s all right. Yes, please, one more pffftt!, NixChix. Growing pile of cans? Cmptr says Noooo. I have stacked them neatly I see that acpartsman and TLD have arrived. pffftt-pffftt Did anyone remember to bring the s'mores? ![]() Cheers ![]() ![]() |

Where are we? Where did you land you aeroplane, NixChix? ![]() ![]() I decided we must be at the Licking River system smack in the middle of Ohio. Captain smspell is in Newark/Heath. ![]() - who's this? A new Base Camper? With a bush hat? An Australian? He doesn't care much for his sandals! ![]() We probably don't want to spend too much time in an urban area where they look down on us when we sit around our camp fire in the middle of Main Street ... however if smspell would take us on a city walk I'm game. How about the rest of you? Our present Captain smspell showed this ![]() a while ago, and I for one would really like to see it. Perhaps he has more up his sleeve ![]() |

Hey Leo Come to Boise it is 104*F. nap2614 Hi Neil, Oh dear, that's 40°C and that will definitely not help in my search for something cooler, like 20-24°C (say, 75°F). Any tips for and tricks for handling the heat? (In Sweden it is not usual for houses/apartments to have built-in ACs unfortunately and the buildings are well-isolated too because everyone here seems to focus on winter here). My tricks for the heat: 1. "Portable AC" (but is has side-effects such as drawing lots of electricity, generating much noise and I have to put a large hose out the window so new hot air enters easily from outside). 2. Anti-hangover bag, filled with cold water and ice cubes. Placed on head, neck and other places with large arteries, such as wrists to cool the blood down. Helps really well. Cons: Requires a lot of ice and heats up kind of quickly. 3. Fans. Makes the air move a bit but does not cool down the air. Maybe I have some more tricks, but these are the ones I seem to use most often. I'd be happy to hear if anyone's got more tips and tricks. :) ![]() Join The International Team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=CK9RP1BKX1 AMD TR2990WX @ PBO, 64GB Quad 3200MHz 14-17-17-17-1T, RX6900XT @ Stock AMD 3800X @ PBO AMD 2700X @ 4GHz |

Hi nap ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the number of sunny hours in Denmark this July as per the 30th. With one day left it's the highest number of sunny hours since measurements began, so flodisar that's not the place to flee to - neither is Idaho ![]() Good to see you're still with us. Tomorrow, go open a fire hydrant like they do in New York City ![]() Little Mermaid, the link seems to be broken, but I suspect we have a record in Sweden too - both sunny hours and temperature. Sunny hours are great. Too hot temperature is not so great. Sunny and 23-24°C would be pretty nice. :) In the weekend on Sunday and then on Monday they say it will be just like that, 24-25°C here but still somewhat sunny so I'm looking forward to that. From Tuesday onward it will start heating up again though :/ ![]() Join The International Team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=CK9RP1BKX1 AMD TR2990WX @ PBO, 64GB Quad 3200MHz 14-17-17-17-1T, RX6900XT @ Stock AMD 3800X @ PBO AMD 2700X @ 4GHz |

Licking County Artifacts Hello Campers, todays high will be 30 C. so don't forget your water.
Why Licking County is called The Land of Legends. We will start at the west side of the city ![]() These was by the Moundbuilder Native American's Not much is kown able it. Nexted is . Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve The prime feature of this preserve is a narrow, east-west gorge cut by the Licking River through the famous Black Hand sandstone formation The preserve is rich in natural as well as early Ohio history. The name Blackhand, for which the preserve is named, originated from a dark, hand-shaped Indian petroglyph which was engraved on the face of a massive sandstone cliff along the north side of the river. The engraving was destroyed in 1828 when canal builders dynamited the cliff face, during construction of the Ohio-Erie Canal, which runs through the gorge. Sections of the canal towpaths and canal locks may be seen from the trails along the river. The dry hilltops are dominated by oak-hickory mature woods along with Virginia pine and mountain laurel. Yellow birch, cherry birch and eastern hemlock grow on northerly exposures. It is an excellent site for viewing woodland spring wildflowers. ![]() This a a short video of Licking county.
