Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I wish I could tell you, Fossaw.
Years ago we had a lot to chose from, but now there are only a few active teams left.
We liked to help new teams along
- boosting their standing and try to promote the team so that more crunchers joined as members.

We have had a couple of treks since I returned that has been unsuccessful.
The worst was probably Hungary. Not one Hungarian spoke to us.
Maybe I posted in an offensive language so
perhaps we should consider ourselves lucky not to have ended up on a war footing with them.

We also had very successful ones.
Kraland I was very good, and the team was new - or should I say renovated.
top40.nl was so entertaining, and Captain adriverhoef actually got a new member
- ultimaThule, whom I have not succeeded in getting to return to his original team:
Minnesota Crunchers - in spite of my best efforts - not even when we trekked there quite recently.

If you have any ideas, please publish for us all to discuss.
If the discussion should warrant discretion, we have occasional postings here
- you're welcome. All it takes is to register with a name of your choice and password.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Fossaw, my answer did not really touch the mechanics of our choices
- and they have been somewhat irrational - the product of a female brain and mind
that elsewhere has been accused of 'feeling too much/being far too emotional'.

Hungary was because I spent five wonderful days in Budapest and would like to share my experience.

top40.nl was because Captain adriverhoef and I discussed Dutch/Danish and developed a kind of friendship.

The recent Minnesota Crunchers was because of Minnesota Cruncher Bearcat's surgery to fuse discs in his spine - I crunched there in September to hold his hand symbolically and mentally while he had a very painful discogram.

Mexico was an impulse because I like cjslman's cheerful comments when he whizzes in and out here in the Forum.

I was about to run us off to Public Libraries of America when two sensible Base Campers - TLD and sujo1 (now promoted to Captain of SeriousCrunchers) finally called me to order and demanded some kind of strategy ....

Well, we are doing Kraland II now, and personally I like it - and the Roquefort I ate yesterday.
Such a funny and tangible result!
Think about that cheese having matured inside mountain caves where Saphir12 and stefada live love struck
It's fine to trek there during a challenge, I think. Adds an extra twist of excitement.

So, Fossaw, here is a little of the irrational side of our (mine) ponderings
- do they inform you as you want/need?
Feel free to ask about specifics .... anything

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

So, what shall we do?
Of course we need a break
- it pulls teeth to beat Australia
but what should we do next?
And in the long run?
One thing is certain:
The BASE CAMP GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION TREK
come September

I see BladeD joined the Byteball.org Team
- I tried to appoach them when they entered
- an appoach so clumsy that it earned me a diploma.
BladeD, will your current team evolve into a talking one
- one talking beyond business, wallets and what have you?
It would have been cute with the Raccoon team laughing

We have a 'Belarus around the World'- vlado comes here on a regular basis
Yorkshire Bandits - you have to love the name - a representative lurks
Fight Alzheimer's and Cancer - would be a dream job, but only Kevin_Albuquerque has been here
There is yoro42's Team Multiple Sclerosis
University of Waterloo - could be devilish fun
The Edwardians may not care all that much about neither points or talking here any more
The Survivors - used to be a lively team, but is subdued now
The Christians ... how is USAFA 82?
Boise Idaho, home of nap

- I doubt we can shake up a dialogue with any of them ... are we down and out?
Beating a dead horse - pressing blood from a turnip ...
I can talk horses to life and turnips to death, but would rather do it for some purpose sad

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Thanks for the invitation, mevrouw kleine zeemeermin!
This cheese party really looks quite tasty, doesn't it?
Could you pass me a biscuit and a ratdish, please?

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

You're bringing the perfect gifts,
ahhh! rats with the bisquits tongue
- thank you ♥ Adri
Why didn't I think of that?
How come the ratdishes have no white tips?
Is that how you like them in the Netherlands?

And the 'Unduchtables' says we need Bloemen - these are Dutch - searchword 'Bloemen'

it said another - to me - important thing which I
would like to mention.
".... non-Caucasians were a rarity in Holland in those days [1960's].
The result was that darker-skinned people were idolized by the Dutch.'

See, in some way I feel I have been robbed of one of my treasured childhood memories.
A word has since been weeded out.
I was taken to Copenhagen by my grandparents during summer vacation - Tivoli Gardens and such -
but what really fascinated me was that tall black man. I never saw anything that handsome before.
I'm afraid I stood still and gaped.
So in my mind the weeded word is something very positive.
I can no longer say it, but I can think it in that idolizing way which I would have a hard time explaining.
It was the word 'idolize' that described my feelings.
That's what I did. Idolize.
Funny how a book of that character can enrich you, too smile

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Found it....
Thank you, BladeD biggrin
Where did you find it?
More than half a year ago, I remembered I once had one which I seemed to have lost, and do you know what?
branjo came with it. He seems to have some cooperation with SNURK, which I don't know about
- but would of course like to know. You do, too, it seems.
branjo had found it in some attic, wiped the cob webs off and polished it.
So I asked him to dance - and we did the 'Blue Danube' which not only runs through Vienna, but through branjo's Bratislava also.
I crunched with The Knights Who Say Ni! for a while ... it went well, noone discovered a mermaid in their midst ...
I was as silent as can be batting eyelashes it's a men's world where mermaids tread lightly cowboy
It's in fine shape now, too, so for you I have chosen Bella Notte
So, BladeD, shall we dance?

I shall rather dance with you than tell you the brutal truth - I keep it in the safe. OldChap gave me this one
- I should probably spruce it up a little more like yours. But I find it goes well with navy text.
It's a question of character limitation in one's signature - a max. of 250 - so I had to sacrifice it for the time being
in order to have enough for saying all the things I need to say in that signature for this trek ....
I shall, of course, wear it for our GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION TREK in September
