Read about that F@H update and it still using the CPU substantially on the side to control the processes. BOINC identifies already the '<accelerators>'. Probably if WCG has a project that has progressed to beta and you see it utilized, you'll be the first to know. There's lots of what is real and what is hype.... will see it when it comes, and whether I can still play Super Mario while crunching (in HD 60 FPS).

Hello Exar Kun [HoloNet],
I know very little about upcoming projects for WCG, but so far I have not heard anything about any that use GPUs. In another thread, I mentioned that most DC people were talking about Larrabee and waiting to see what Intel (and AMD - maybe) come up with rather than work on currently available GPUs and accelerators such as the ones that Clearspeed makes. Now one mulls how widespread it truly is out into the PS3 world when one reads this:
----------------------------------------Sadly SONY only supports F@h :( Even threads about other @home projects are closed at SONY's sites to avoid loosing participants to other projects ! http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=2398#14709 Would that mean PS3Grid is not getting help? Sony and F@H in pact (and limited support). Oh well, they must like de Steve Jobs style.

We now have an alternative to Folding@Home for GPU processing. Look at http://www.gpugrid.net/ run by the Computational Biochemistry and Biophysics Laboratory , Research Unit on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB) at University of Pompeu Fabra, within the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) at Barcelona, Spain. They are running scientific work units for the Sony Playstation PS3 and for Linux 64 using the Nvidia GPU.

The most curious is the running of Linux off a jumpdrive that has to be 512mb minimum and that it wont run when box is used as a game console i.e. booting is needed each time.
