i post this here wondering if this could affect future crunching. it seems the japanese are using their game machines and telephones directly:
"The PC's role in Japanese homes is diminishing, as its once-awesome monopoly on processing power is encroached by gadgets such as smart phones that act like pocket-size computers, advanced Internet-connected game consoles, and digital video recorders with terabytes of memory." "Overall PC shipments in Japan have fallen for five consecutive quarters, the first ever drawn-out decline in PC sales in a key market, according to IDC. I am unsure to the level of impact this will have. But if this is the model of the future, then we should look at running wcg on more platforms/devices. I am even less sure of the viability of this due to the use of custom operating systems, battery life of mobile devices, limited cpu and memory. I would like to see wcg running on a ps3. I think gaming consoles who be an easier market to target than mobile gagetry.

i guess it does not seem to be a large threat at this time. 90% is still pretty good :)
perhaps they can run WCG on their PC and run F@H on their game. no big deal. |
