Yes it was a "bug".
Server upgrade or something and during the short period of the upgrading process work units sent in received double credits. So from a historical stats viewpoint I think yesterdays numbers should be disregarded. Of course, now there is the motivation to beat that figure and have a new "valid" high ![]() |

Yes it was...
---------------------------------------- That's why I have not said anything here. When I find such a huge jump in the achievements (points and runtime this time) I make sure I am up-to-date in the forums before celebrating and generally, when it is so big, I find confirmation that it is the result of something not very "natural". ![]() Too bad for this time, but I am confident that I will post a new real one pretty soon, and probably several times before the end of the Bunny Race. Cheers. Jean. |

It's the points record thread, so i wont say anything about the run-time record of Wednesday of 233 CPU years (after all those previous 237/238 were 'technicianly bumped' as well on Nov 16 and Dec. 12)

I had "accepted" the 237 of December 12 as "natural", that's why I did not react for the 233 on Wednesday, sorry. By the way, in that case we should have also highlighted the 231 two days before.
----------------------------------------You are right, with many UD clients returning their results all at once when the UD servers restarted that certainly influenced the stats, particularly about runtime where UD is shamelessly generous. This is confirmed by the fact that the points of that day had nothing exceptional... ![]() |

Yesterday Monday March 10, 2008 WCG's Daily Points Record has improved from 127,511,745 points (March 3, 2008) to
--------------------------------------------> 131,287,143 points! <---- At the same time the Daily Runtime Record has also been broken, raising from 233 years 114 days 10 hours 07 minutes and 40 seconds (March 5, 2008) to 237 years 355 days 18 hours 24 minutes and 30 seconds . Over the last seven days 870,626,183 points have been produced, i.e. an average 124,375,169 points per day which is also a new record. And the last one (for that day): over the last 30 days 3,386,827,871 points have been accumulated, i.e. an average 112,894,262 points per day. Congratulations to all for this new achievement. Cheers. Jean. |

Obviously I had forgotten about this thread: the current normal*** global daily record has not even been celebrated here, that is
--------------------------------------------> 140,016,696 <---- which was achieved on Tuesday June 3, 2008. And despite the summer vacation time and the hot season which is not ideal for letting computers run full speed we have been close to break it twice this week with 139,819,413 on Monday and 139,863,386. So let's keep trying, that's records time somewhere else anyway... Cheers. Jean. *** "Normal" here means "not due to particular technical operations taking place on the servers". See a few posts above for some examples. |

What makes me hopeful in my previous post is two other indicators that I keep watching in a spreadsheet, namely the 7-day total and the 30-day total. And last UTC night we have established a new best ever for the 7-day indicator 912,522,184 points over the last seven days, i.e. an average 130,360,312 points per day over that period.
----------------------------------------The previous record for this indicator was 910,566,397 on June 8, 2008. For the 30-day indicator we are very close too with 3,661,661,804 last night vs 3,781,328,361 on June 10, 2008. Let's keep crunching hard. Jean. |

Surely there was a Monster FAAH job element, but this week did jump 83 CPU years over last week. That's 30,295 CPU core days more than the 7 days going before.

As mentioned in some other threads yesterday August 21, 2008 has been a very good day for WCG. So much that we have a new "normal" global daily record with
--------------------------------------------> 140,778,625 points <---- validated during a single day. And since it was "only" the best of several consecutive good days we also have a new record for the last-seven-days indicator with ----> 916,548,624 points <---- validated from August 15 to August 21, i.e. an average 130,935,518 points per day over this period. Congrats to all participants, and keep crunching to make our world better and also to beat the 30-day record: we missed it only by 7,657,638 points. Cheers.
