In real terms the points are worth only bragging rights. That said, they can be useful for comparing the crunching capabilities or efficiencies of various machine setups. In short, they are a way of measuring work output over time.

Hey Ya Dataman!
Man, I love this thread... P'haps, we could come up with a realtime comparison, like lab man hours, or reaerch hours, based upon a very loose average of one person doing comparative research in a real lab setting. It would definitely be project specific, since lab work in each can differ greatly. Or a mean average, including the time it takes to do the data entry: some manual, some rapidly, like from a cd or tape! Something that a lay person watching the evening news, or reading the front page of their local paper could understand... The best PR we can get, or produce, is the kind that the most people can understand. And by far the best way of recruitment! ![]() |

Can anyone sleep thru this? It's done, a real 100 million points on one 'regular' crunching Monday, no help from flushing technicians.

I think that works out to 14,000 WCG points jumping to 150,000 WCG points. ![]() |

And 103,600,567 done on December 04!
----------------------------------------The teams which bring new members for the Christmas Race are certainly helping much but there is also BOINC@AUSTRALIA which is specially dedicated to WCG for the first two weeks of December. And some new big players like GNI or MySaoirse. And members migrating to Boinc a little faster after the latest round of emails. The 7-days-in-a-row totals have been increasing every day since November 23: 615,745,756 on that day, 683,035,067 yesterday! |
