I have bunch of not-so-loaded servers which run FreeBSD/amd64. There are i386 fc4 Linux emulation available there, but all my tries to run WCG there leads to workunits fails (see my other thread). Is there a way I can contact with client developers to find the source of a problem? There's surely possibility some emulated syscalls aren't implemented correctly, and I would like to fix it in collaboration with both WCG and FreeBSD Linux emulation developers.
Or, should this post belong to general client support? |

why don't you run the BOINC in FreeBSD? it can be done...and you can tell him to sign up to WCG server for data crunching!
----------------------------------------here are some links: http://wiki.debian.org/BOINC#Installation http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/DownloadOther http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/AnonymousPlatform and here is the litttle more of search: http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&...amp;ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 i hope it helped! (just don't go with newer based versions that the current one running for WCG!) |

You still need Linux emulation, KLiK.
Here's the reference I use: http://people.freebsd.org/~pav/boinc.html |

Here's the reference I use: http://people.freebsd.org/~pav/boinc.html Yes I know ;) It does not contain into for amd64, unfortunately. Linux workunit helper applications die with signals 4 and 6, but do not leave any info where and why. I'm willing to help with debugging, but don't know who and where should I write to... |

Most probably at the BOINC developers forum you'll find specialists able to help who surely will appreciate you volunteering your efforts. Just registered there and post; however, I'm almost sure boinc is doing its job right: it is WCG Linux binaries which receive signals 4 and 6... So, I would assume I should communicate with WCG workers' developers... |

Hi dmarck,
We have started beta testing in order to roll out a new project. For the next few weeks, the BOINC developers are going to be the only game in town. We appreciate the time and effort you are putting into this problem. Recently knreed said that we were getting more work done by members running FreeBSD than from members running old OSes such as Windows 98 and ( ) Windows ME.Lawrence |
