Hello, my friends! First i want to say, that i dont know any more english than before
So i will write my Post in two languages. Maybe German Members could help in german, because english is not my best language, like i already said! Gruß Jan -------- Hello, i got a PS2 standing alone on the desk, unused. I got it from a friend, but he had no Equipment for it. So it is unused, i could get the equipment from a friend, but i dont like gaming on consoles. I also heard, that BOINC runs faster/would run faster on PS2s, and Xboxes, because of the MIPS architecture. 1. Is this Correct? 2. What do i need to run BOINC, or another client on my PS2, for getting more work done? 3. Do i need a harddisk? When i need it, how much it costs, and how long does it take to build in :) 4. DO i need to put a Modchip in the Box, or other Hardware modifications? 5. Do i need to update this construct then manually, or can i go and let it run a year, or two? Greetz Jan! |

World Community Grid doesn't support PS2, and probably never will.
PS3 and XBox-360 may be supported if a project is suitable, but there's nothing so far. |

Hello byspeed,
Sorry. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/SystemRequirements says BOINC uses Windows, Macintosh, Linux or Solaris (with limitations). The Sony PS2 and PS3 are NOT supported on BOINC. Lawrence |

What client could i use instead, if this not work, with linux on PS2, and then running BOINC on Linux?

Yeah, i know, but if BOINC not works properly on the PS2, are there NO other Clients for the PS2 that will do the same like BOINC, or the UD Win Agent? Greeting Jan |

What client could i use instead, if this not work, with linux on PS2, and then running BOINC on Linux? about running the PS2 with Linux: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_for_PlayStation_2 (see the versions of the Linux runing) http://playstation2-linux.com/ then, when you have that, it's time for the HDD: http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=list and find the combo: http://www.mod-chip.com/index-cart-us.php?go=en/select_ps2_main.htm http://www.mrmodchips.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=358 or some other! then when you get the system up & running, which will be painful but it will be a challange...then you can download the BOINC for Linux & run it! p.s. also note that PS3 is running F@h - a parallel work that we work here: hpf2! for that you only need to download the patch for system which got out in July! ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KLiK at Oct 25, 2007 11:38:02 PM] |
