Other things Vista is more useless than:
Wooden magnet One-ply toilet paper Philips-head screwdriver for an Audi Republican sex-therapist ... I could go on. The point is Vista manages to suck up such a vast amount of system resources that it is basically self-defeating. I wish I could still buy a computer with XP loaded on it! |

I wish I could still buy a computer with XP loaded on it! Last time I looked (couple of weeks ago), DELL still offers a choice of XP or Vista. They recently put out a line of quad, high-end gaming machines (quite pricy). HP only offers Vista. IBM, on their high end business servers, offers just about everything (Vista, XP, LINUX, AIX, UNIX). Lenovo (formerly IBM) offers XP or Vista but not on every product. ![]() ![]() |

When I bought my Dell laptop about a month and a half ago, it was Vista or nothing. Which sucks. I wished they'd ship with no OS. I still have an XP key from another old laptop.

O.K. I'm taking the plunge and uninstalling VISTA on my laptop and installing XP on it. My stats are going to take a hit today, but I think the performance will improve dramatically once I use XP instead of VISTA.

When I switched from Vista to XP on my laptop I saw a 15-25% improvement in BOINC output (drystone/whetstone etc.). That shows you how much waste there is in VISTA.

Now we will expect better numbers from you. Just kidding of course as your numbers are already impressive. Rock on XP Pro!![]() ![]() |

It was a very good day folks! We could do with improving our number of members returning a result each day though. We had a pretty good stretch with that in the 60s but we could do well to get that back up there. Good points days like today do help a lot towards making our goal for the year!
