I must admit I'm not surprised it has been locked at the slightest excuse to save any embarrassment or questioning to establish exactly what went on - it was my fear that the first opportunity to arise such as someone entering the thread and flaming would be used as such.

This unfortunately has shades of what occurred over at Grid.org, that whenever criticism or attempts to elicit the truth were attempted, some deliberately sabotaged the thread to get it closed - I am just saddened that such things now seem to be happening here, I thought this place was above all that.

I was going to start another thread in a vain attempt to get to the truth, but decided not to as I don't think the WCG hierarchy are ever going to explain themselves no matter how much we ask.

All I will say is please folks, lets not go down the road of other places, we have seen where it ultimately leads and this place deserves better than that - if you don't like something and aren't prepared to debate or question in a reasonable manner, then lets not enter the thread - and likewise if someone enters your thread and disagrees with you in a provocative or insulting manner, then ignore them and report the post to the Admins to get the post edited or removed so that the thread can continue.

Lets get a few things straight :

It was me who entered the Islam thread to object to some verses calling for "The enraging of the unbelievers to delight God" Not Carl.

It was me who entered the Islam thread again and asked why Mohammad married a 9 year old Girl and had sex with her ,but is still considered the main messenger of the word of Allah. Not Carl.

It was me who entered the Christian thread and asked why one in particular was stirring it up by calling me "Satan" and the "enemy". Not Carl.

It was me who entered the Christian thread again to object to a particular banner shown by a particular member, as I knew that the banner stood for a hatred of Catholics. (Well known here in Scotland and Ireland but not obvious to others.) Not Carl.

It was me who originally objected to the external link leading to verses spouting hatred of Christians and Jews etc posted in the Islam thread. Not Carl.

Some people here seem to think it was Carl who did all of the above, when it was actually me. And I would do it again. I am not banned, but Carl is. Does'nt make any sense to hang the wrong man.


Carl only received one email which had nothing to do with being banned from WCG . He was then made invisible on the forum and did'nt receive an email about effectively being banned for many days later.

Would be good to know what this is really all about ?

I agree Dave that the project manager is unlikely to share his communications with you. One of us is lying. I know only one way to settle who is the liar. This episode has blackened my character, so I`m about to call IBM/WCG`s bluff.

Let me state once again that the main goal of the World Community Grid forums is to support members of the World Community Grid. In the history of WCG, only two members have been banned from posting publicly in the forums.

With regards to carl.h being prohibited from posting publicly in the World Communit Grid forums:
- World Community Grid made the decision - not the Community Advisors. They are advisors only and while we consider their opinion highly, they will be the first to say that we do not take or act on a lot of their advice.
- The World Community Grid team as a whole reviewed the threads and posts and came to the unanimous decision that carl.h should not be allowed to post publicly in the World Community Grid forums
- The decision to ban carl.h from posting publicly was made before his post in the Team Islam thread in Arabic (some members seem to think that we misinterpreted this post, which is not the case)

By way of explanation:
The violations that got carl.h banned from posting publicly in the forums were:
- His refusal to stop after being asked to do so. In particular, in the Team Islam thread after I requested that everyone stop posting in the thread he did not do so, even after a 2nd warning was posted and the existing thread locked and a new one opened. All other members involved in the Team Islam thread stopped posting after the first request. (Rule: Please do not hijack other member's threads)
- A rude and intolerant attitude displayed after our initial request (Rule: Please do not be rude to other members nor retaliate if a member is rude to you)
- We received many "report forum post" emails asking for carl's posts to be edited (Rule: Please help to make the Forums an enjoyable experience for all members)

Didactylos posted early in the day (US time) on July 5th explaining that carl.h had been made invisible, making this information public. After that post carl.h created 35 new member names in an attempt to continue to post in the forums. In addition, carl.h attempted to impersonate a member of the World Community Grid staff by posting as variations of the member name "nelsoc", and while posting invisibly, he insulted the World Community Grid staff using what we would call "inappropriate language."

For those who still think our decision was unfair or those that feel this explanation is somehow not good enough, I am sorry; that is our explanation.

So Carl hijacked a thread and was rude. If that is all it takes think you have a few more to ban.

Sorry but found this part funny and just a bit of mischief on Carl's part. Nothing to get anyones undies in a wad.
