Cruncher distribution

Hi I am just curious, now that GC has ended does anyone know breakdown of distribution between FAAH, to HPF2 to both crunchers.
I know in BOINC FAAH work units return quicker than HPF2 and I am wondering if a lot of crunchers are switching to FAAH versus HPF2 and if HPF2 is getting the short end of the crunching stick.
Reason I ask is I crunch both by choice and since GC ended I have gone from about 50-50 work units to almost 3 HPF2 units to 1 FAAH unit.

Re: Cruncher distribution

There is an extended amount of work for both. They are supposed to be "sort of" random, meaning that you can always get more of one than the other over the short term. If one is twice the other for more than a week or two, I might wonder. It might also be that in making up the workunits, something may be empty for a little while, so you get a lot of the other.

We're just finishing up a beta run for a new autodock for FAAH. I have noticed that those seem to run a bit longer, comparable to HPF2, but it may just be coincidence.

One is also free to check only one, but it would then be a good idea to check the BOINC box to send other work if something runs out.

The priority of at least one project was raised near the end to finish it up. There's no danger of that for these two yet.

In the meantime, three other projects will likely start during the next few months, but I don't know the length of the workunits. The GC WAS great for small systems, though. I don't think that extended scrutiny of this temporary FAAH and HPF2 period will go too far. We hope it won't last too long.

When I had both open last weekend, I got both. That's as close as I looked.

As a side note - mine seem to run in cycles, depending on the 'speed' of the rig. I'm setup to run anything WCG has to offer, but seem to get more FAAH on the slower rig, and more HPF2 on the faster.

There may also be some differences depending on whether you are running the UD version or the BOINC version. Anyhow, it all needs crunching. We'll get to it.

The number of work units and computing time per project are published for each project on the global statistics sub pages: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewProjects.do

Home grown graphical representation showing the spread of effort by project can be found in member posts like the below:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=12857

&

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=13733

Someone asked for a split in run times by agent which is not available.

Hope the graphs help a bit to tell the story how our contributions meander around.... and since the technician have a joystick so that the balance gets adjusted according need for progress on short and long term projects, that element also impacts the distribution. On my present profile of 'all' projects i get around 7-8 HPF2 to every 2 -3 FAAH, but that can also differ by operating system.... too complicated.

Select Statistics - By Project then click on a project. You will see a statistics summary that includes the statistics for Yesterday. Yesterday shows 87,000+ results returned for FAAH and 86,000+ results returned for HPF2. Looks like the server is currently splitting the work evenly.
