We do have one, but it's out of date.

While it isn't a 'letter', I do have an extensive recruitment website targeted primarily for the WCG, although it later mentions a number of other grid projects. It is team NEUTRAL -- i.e., I make no mention of, nor provide any links to, my own team. You and everyone else are more than welcome to link to it, refer people to it, and/or cut and paste anything within it that you find useful. It is here -- http://home.alltel.net/billvelek/wcg.html -- although you can use the shorter name of http://www.velek.com instead (URL forwarding), or they can eventually find it via my other site -- http://www.2plus2is4.com

Here's a general DC news letter promoting BOINC: http://www.isgtw.org/?pid=1000527world
----------------------------------------At the developers front page there was this little news item: July 16, 2007 BOINC is now the preferred client software at World Community Grid.

This is probably a question for the WCG administrators, or perhaps lawyers.
----------------------------------------Since WCG is a non-profit (understatement) organization, can companies who participate take a charitable contribution on their taxes for the time their computers crunch, as indicated by the client logs? This might be an interesting selling point to get our companies involved, but might also require more paperwork for WCG than the administrators/IBM wants to deal with. Thanks. |

jal2,
----------------------------------------been discussed several times in the last 3-4 months or more. No.... the proof is extremely difficult. Sorry, but u could try it with the owners of those 100+ hi end production line machines. The cost are already deductible as a business expense. They could put it in their tax return as a footnote, particular if it's a public company it looks very good. AND WCG is non-profit.... really, but IBM certainly puts it in their PR pack to sell their commercial parts, which is perfectly fine with me and most. cheers

Yes, Ive been working on quite how to do this so that the power bill for "extra crunching" could be itemized. The problem is how do they know that what you crunch is actually going here. It would be that WCG would need to generate a reciept some how, that would show proof that what you show as power donated to involvment here.
