Just a note to say don't worry as our stats dip between now and October. No one is abandonning our great project. It's now the Annual summer dip as folk take their Holidays (R&R and Vacations) All the crunching Schools and Colleges are out for summer and the number crunching Universities the same.
----------------------------------------Have a great Summer Break all. Let's all come back refreshed and break some number WCG records in the Autumn/Fall (Spring in the Southern Hemisphere )Dave ![]() |

Your stats....not OUR stats. One of my computers just got a message that it can't be sent any more work today, because it has already sent 50 workunits (quota).
----------------------------------------The overworked Americans will continue to contribute as much as we can until y'all return. Have a good "holiday" (3 months off?) and we'll keep looking for some cures. Stay away from those mad cows, eh? No, the Americans scale back in the summer, too - aircon is so expensive these days.

Sure, we scale back a little, but not to the same extent as the continentals, who take off the entire summer. Teachers used to have the summer off, but school is going later and starting sooner, squeezing them.
----------------------------------------We're driving to more places now due to the hassles of air travel and limited baggage sizes. When I was working, vacation was measured in HOURS per month worked. Now, I just stay home and crunch.

I see you repeating this 50 quota thing
----------------------------------------Retsof, but afaik it's 50 per core (or was it 30 as knreed has typed both values recently). With 16 core default thats like 480 or 800 per computer.... better make a bug report. And thanks to Dave's tip-off on LogMeIn, my 3 month vacation up in the mountains allows remote checking and running. The lady who waters the house-plants has been instructed on hitting the reset button in case an emergency call has to be made (yeah right, that thing goes off at 41C outside temp). :D

We don't get that much time off! Most people will have a week or two off, tops.

These are single core computers. No duals or quatros here yet. Each one gets 50 max.

50 on a single core can only be GC, which than brings your average to 28.8 minutes. Never see anyone in quorum with these times, so are you sure you're not a half way cycler

50 on a single core can only be GC, which than brings your average to 28.8 minutes. Never see anyone in quorum with these times, so are you sure you're not a half way cycler These are all clean workunits with no errors. Once in awhile, the mix is such that it will not download work until the queue is totally empty. When this happens, it had skipped downloading for a couple of days. My queue is 3.5 days. It then is easy to download 10 workunits at a time until it hits 50. The fastest GC I have seen here on the AMD 2.4GHz computer/cores is 27 minutes. Most of them vary between 35 minutes and 70 minutes or so. The same type of GC workunits on the 0.5GHz Pentium III are taking between 3 hours and 6 hours...(no danger of doing 50/day there). With 3 fast computers and one slow one, I am doing nowhere near 150/day.OFL 06/28/2007 0:000:09:38:29 903 13 06/27/2007 0:003:13:32:16 6,559 87 06/26/2007 0:003:14:22:47 5,788 78 06/25/2007 0:004:12:21:43 7,287 92 06/24/2007 0:003:05:31:46 6,134 79 06/23/2007 0:004:05:04:13 8,345 114 06/22/2007 0:004:01:28:00 6,645 92 06/21/2007 0:003:00:01:24 4,720 66 06/20/2007 0:003:11:10:23 6,086 92 06/19/2007 0:002:20:03:10 6,346 86 06/18/2007 0:004:01:48:28 6,866 86 06/17/2007 0:003:13:40:18 6,879 94 06/16/2007 0:004:11:32:37 6,445 90 06/15/2007 0:003:03:50:31 5,332 74

----------------------------------------Guys Guys it was meant as some kind of encoragement to newbies not some pitched battle Statistically more people are on holiday between now and October so the overall WCG Stats don't look so good. It happens every year like clockwork. Retsof we'd all love to have 3 months off over here. if you see anyone achieving this feat let me know how they do it ROFLMAO Have a nice day Dave ![]() |
