I am currently running 5.10.13. I did so because the Message log on my boinc informed me of the upgrade. If you go to Berkeley’s site, the current downloadable version is 5.10.13. I figured that if Berkeley was releasing this version, than it was ok to download. From reading these posts, it seems that is not true. Where is it posted, normally, in these forums what boinc version WCG recommends. That way I can always check there before upgrading from Berkeley. @Downtowndan Seems several people had that message, at least one still being on 5.8.15., so following up where that was pushed from. cheers I'm still going to push 5.10.13 here for windows users. Seems to have no issues on my machines or the other guys on the team. I have it on XP Pro,win2K3 Ent 32 bit and 64 bit with no problems and everything from an 8 core clover to a 2 core DX3600 to a dual sossaman(yonah) and it's behaving fine. Even though BOINC has moved beyond this version might it be wise to use this version as the "suggested" one until another better proven one comes along? Thanks for reading. ![]() |

Per a few posts up, the download page will show this from next website update. The trick presently is to just select the required download, hit continue and a pop-up will appear showing the version. Just cancel out. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadBoinc.do?newMember=false Seen a message log entry advising that a version was upgraded from X to Y which usually forces a benchmark to run, but as yet no auto-update advises. Thought this was planned for a far away future version ![]() Thanks, That is a good idea. So far I have had no problems with 5.10.13; at least none that I have noticed. |

MS introduced patch 938928 in July '07 to stop 'Explorer' from being crashed by unspecified apps in a race condition. Is this coincidence? The new explorer exe is dated June 13 2007.
