billroland, what OS do you use? I may be able to rebuild BOINC for you to test, since the fix you want won't be available for months. Running Vista (x64 and x86), XP Professional SP2, and Windows 2000. So basically I'm just using it on the Windows NT based platform. |

Thanks for your wishes of a good day and good health to me. Having just returned to the forums after about a year and a half of health related issues, that means a lot to me. billroland, please will you contact me directly and I'll see what I can do for you. It's less trivial than I hoped, because the latest stable libcurl isn't available as a developer package. But I think it's doable.

Movieman -- Thanks for your wishes of a good day and good health to me. Having just returned to the forums after about a year and a half of health related issues, that means a lot to me. I guess we are a bit on edge with some of the goings on lately. I hope that I didn't offend you with my post; I certainly did not intend to do so and, if you did take offense, you have my apology. After doing a bit of reading here yesterday I can see what you mean about things being "on edge" If you don't mind I'd like to comment on that: I'm 55, been around the block a few times and know many people from most of the major faiths of this world. I've always taken the approach that religeon is a personal thing and best left to the individual. I'm sure we can find fault with certain points of any major religeon but to what end? People beleive what they beleive and they are entitled to do so. It is only when people discuss religeon outside of the group with people that beleive in other religeons that these problems take place. With this viewpoint as the basis for my thinking I beleive it is wrong to have religeous based groups or teams here on this forum. This is a DC forum and to have any group expounding their beleifs is always going to create strife with others. The discussions here should exclude religeon and if neccessary by a posted rule to that effect. There is a point that I have to make here. I want it very clear that I am making this towards all religeons and not specifically against the Muslim group as they were involved in this mess. I am not anti anyone. This US citizen of Irish ancestry sits here with 2 very expensive 8 core clovertown machines that were built with the colaberation of one of my team mates without whom this couldn't have been done. One of the smartest men I've ever had the privledge to know and a gentleman to deal with. He also happens to be an Egyptian Muslim. I tease him and tell him that if ever there was an "Odd Couple" it is he and I. I have asked him about the Muslim faith as I beleive that only in knowledge comes understanding. People fear what they do not understand. If he and I can make this journey together as friends then surely others can also. Religeon doesn't have to be an inpediment to friendships as long as all parties respect the others rights and beliefs. When you make that simple step, the issues between peoples can clear as a fog lifting when the sun appears. As to you Mr.Bell, we have no issues between us. I saw your comments and felt the need to comment to give you a better idea of who I was and what my motives were.I've seen enough strife in my lifetime and I do this to help the next generation and I assure you, my motives are pure on this. I do what I can with the resources available to add to this big barrel of knowledge that we are creating. Perhaps this back and forth between us can yield some positive results. You and I now know each other a bit better and understand who that unseen person is. Let's move on and work for positive goals for this project and as friends. But I think it's doable. It seems that the new beta 5.10.14 includes libcurl 7.16.4, I just did a test on my network and it seems SOCKS communication is restored. Hurray! |

Update: 5.10.13 working fine here..stable for a week+..
----------------------------------------used on winxp,win2k3-32 and win2k3-64..all working fine. |

The change log does mention the libcurl update but it says it under Mac there at the end. However my Windows PC's are showing libcurl 7.16.4 so its not Mac specific.

Not as green as was hoped for. Stick with 5.10.13, not green either, if you made the leap from 5.8.16
