Racing thru the alpha point releases with a word on the Proxy issue fix:
----------------------------------------5.10.15 Howdy Folks, This release fixes the manager problems of not reporting running results. We also recently upgraded to a newer version of libcurl which is supposed to contain some proxy server fixes for both HTTP and SOCKS. So if you know of anybody having proxy problems, have them upgrade to this build and see if it fixes their problems. As always, log test results to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/alpha and log bug reports to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac. TIA. ---- Rom Mac: 5.10.16 I have posted BOINC version 5.10.16 for the Macintosh to the alpha download page. This is the first official Mac alpha release since 5.10.10; versions 5.10.11 - 5.10.13 only applied to the Windows installer; versions 5.10.14 and 5.10.15 had a serious bug which prevented their release. Rom expects to release Windows version 5.10.16 later tonight. From my previous release notes: At 2:42 AM -0700 6/10/07, Charlie Fenton wrote: >The installation procedure for the Mac has not changed. Charlie Fenton Windows 5.10.16 Howdy Folks, This release fixes an issue where an error message would be displayed in the messages tab if run based on preferences was set and an app was suspended with the leave app in memory preference specified. Change Log: - client: fix bug that caused "no shared memory segment" errors, introduced in 20 July checkin ____________ Jord As always, only use these if you're prepared to put up with bugs or want to test a specific fix that stopped you e.g. from connecting to the WCG BOINC servers.

The WCG Download page will soon show the WCG green-lighted version numbers which is still 5.8.16/17 depending on platform.
----------------------------------------5.10.13 wont be approved because as you can see above, the fixes are still coming thru and e.g. the proxy is an important issue. ![]()

Correct.
Earlier I said that .14 and .15 at least were in the works, but now I'm wondering whether we may be even further away from the final release. The recent changes are major enough to warrant a full round of testing, so don't expect an official release any time soon. (I've been wrong in the past, though - the BOINC testing and release policy passeth all understanding....) |

I am currently running 5.10.13. I did so because the Message log on my boinc informed me of the upgrade. If you go to Berkeley’s site, the current downloadable version is 5.10.13. I figured that if Berkeley was releasing this version, than it was ok to download. From reading these posts, it seems that is not true. Where is it posted, normally, in these forums what boinc version WCG recommends. That way I can always check there before upgrading from Berkeley.

Per a few posts up, the download page will show this from next website update. The trick presently is to just select the required download, hit continue and a pop-up will appear showing the version. Just cancel out.
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadBoinc.do?newMember=false Seen a message log entry advising that a version was upgraded from X to Y which usually forces a benchmark to run, but as yet no auto-update advises. Thought this was planned for a far away future version ![]()

This is the first time that I've asked for help so I'm not sure if I'm in the right spot:

Possibly you clicked the "Don't get new tasks" button. Click the "Allow new tasks" button to correct it.
Or it may just be that BOINC doesn't need more work right now, in while case you don't need to do anything. |

Things are looking better, Didactylos.
I was really alarmed at that message. But now the message has changed...still no work. But it looks like I just have to wait for it. I have other things to do. Thanks for all that you do, Didactylos. |
