shock Help all my results are 134,769 days overdue I might not get credit!

Hi everyone,
I changed my motherboard tonight due to a failure on sunday.I have probably started XP and Boinc before setting the BIOS time and date to the correct value.Anyway the BIOS and XP now show the correct time and date but Boinc Manager is still telling me I have a reporting deadline of 14/12/1901 confused . Is there anything I can do to salvage these WU`s or should I just abort them/ reset project.

Thanks Allan

Let them complete. I believe BOINC uses the server clock for credit calculations, so they won't be counted as overdue.

I've had the same thing happen after resetting my BIOS. I forgot to reset the clock before booting up and all the WU in BOINC manager were shown to be overdue. I just let them complete and upload and everything went normally in regards to validation and credit. The WCG server knows when the WU was sent and when it was returned according to it's own clock, so the time shown in BOINC is irrelavent. Happy crunching! cool

El Capitan,
As an update to my original post I offer this.... I did as you advised, let the WU`s complete, no problem so far, I have received Credit for my "late" work. The funny thing that is happening now is that I am not downloading any new work. I am down to 2 WU`s totalling 16 hours work and yet have my report/connect to project time set at 2.5 days. Perhaps it will sort itself out after the "overdue" WU`s have completed but I thought you may be interested in the behaviour of the Boinc agent.

sunfolk,

Your BOINC clock is still upset due the 'late' returns. Once you pull new work after present depletion, things will normalize again.

The alternate action is: Suspend the unstarted jobs you have, set in the project tab to not fetch work, let the current job finish and return result files and hit update to force the 'ready to report' if it does not go by itself. THEN, do a project reset and allow work fetch again. Things should return to normal, earlier as natural causes would allow.

Re: Help all my results are 134,769 days overdue I might not get credit!

It's quite probable that the time anomaly has messed up your time stats. They should readjust, but if they are totally out, that can take some time. Fixing them manually is quite complicated, so I offer this workaround:

Select "No new tasks".
Wait for your work queue to empty.
Hit "Update" to report your results.
Stop BOINC.
Delete client_state.xml and client_state_prev.xml
Restart BOINC.

That will reset your time stats (and it loses all work in progress, so be careful).

edit: @Sekerob: a project reset will reset the DCF and debt values, but won't reset the time stats. As I recall, a messed up clock also messes up the time stats. I could be wrong.... debt value or time stats can stop work fetch.
