I have just suddenly had a WU's on 2 of my machines aborted by the project.
2 other machines still have work. Should I suspend network connections if WCG is having problems again so I don't lose all work? |

Now ALL WU's on 2 machines have been aborted and the other machines cannot contact WCG.
Database problems again? I noticed several days ago there was a big crash. |

I can update with no problems. Which WCG project are the cancelled work units from?

I lost all my work units on my computer here at work. Can't check my home ones at the moment. I get the status of "Aborted by Project" for all work units. I have these messages:

Boinc seems to be downloading new tasks now. Did we lose all completed workunits as well as uncompleted workunits?

You seem to be caching a lot of work. It is possible WCG have cancelled some old work units. Anyway, you should get new work next time BOINC requests it (in 23 minutes, hopefully).

No, I haven't cached a lot of WU's - just checked and it was only 1 day or thereabouts for each machine - as showing in my Boinc Manager.
I usually only have one days work cached at any project I crunch for. |

I had 17 tasks because I have been hit recently with a lot of GC wus and it kicks them out so fast, plus I have my profile set to 2.5 days worth of work if I remember right.
----------------------------------------All workunits were up to date. My system usually crunches them out with at least a few days to spare before the deadline. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 4, 2007 2:05:25 PM] |

The 'aborted by project' message that your client received should have only been sent under the following conditions:
1) The result is overdue and the workunit has completed. 2) The project cancelled the workunit 3) The workunit errored out. (too many results were returned as an error). However, none of these describes what happened to you. It appears that there is a bug in this code and it does not properly handle the case where code returns an error due to problems connecting to the database. I have disabled the sending of these abort messages until the code can be modified to correctly handle this case. |
