In which a question is asked about the upcoming oses 64-bit and relatives:

Question:

The next version of OS-X will be 64-bit. Will WCG be making 64-bit workunits for Intel Macs? (and as my ignorance shows) Since OS-X is BSD based, shouldn't we then be able to get native 64-bit workunits for LINUX?

Re: In which a question is asked about the upcoming oses 64-bit and relatives:

Hi Gollumer,
Right now the alpha development version of BOINC (5.9) is experimenting with a mechanism for asking for 64-bit work units and falling back to 32-bits if a project does not have 64-bit support. So BOINC 5.10 should be all ready for 64-bit projects when they appear.

Maybe somebody on the staff knows if any projects are planning to use 64-bit code. I have not heard of any.

Lawrence
