Re: Do you turn your system(S) off?

Mine stay on 24/7 365 days - and in a leap year I use that day for maintenance and cleaning tongue

All mine stay on except when we go away for more than a couple of days - the garage is always nice and warm wink

Re: Do you turn your system off?

(1)
- The Desktop settings are set to deactive the monitor after 5 hours.
- The computer enters "standby" after 6 hours (like when I go on vacation).
- So essentially the system will turn itself off.

(2) Because my computer is connected to BitTorrent and constantly downloading or uploading something.

(3) As you said, turning a system on-and-off can damage the power supply. It you use your computer regularly, then it's better to just leave it on, but in a minimal power consumption state.
I wouldn't leave a pc in standby, some PC power supplies can consume 100W or more in that mode.

I don't see how. Everything's turned-off and inactive. Nothing's running.

As for cable hackers, who cares?
My computer's not got anything
valuable for them to steal.

Because it is in standby, not off. Switch-mode PSUs consume a fair bit of energy in that mode.

Re: Do you turn your system off?

I turn mine off as needed, and I turn them on the same way. So they may be on for weeks and then off for weeks. The windows machines I restart when I am finished for the day to keep that springtime fresh feeling.
