Mac crash

My mac pro just crashed. All work units being crunched are history. Can the powers in charge go into my work units pending and pass those along to someone else as I lost everything. I had the latest version of boinc and don't know why it crashed. Just started crunching yesterday and everything was fine until this afternoo when I paused it to do some work. I wouldn't pause all 4 cores, one kept running until I shut the program down. After that, it crashed my system. I'll be back after reinstalling.

Re: Mac crash

Work is resent automatically. No need to micro-manage :-)

It crashed your system? Obviously, that should never happen. Can you tell us more, please?

Oh, and exactly which version of BOINC? There have been a few recently.

Re: Mac crash

5.8.17. I won't rule out other things but seems to point to boinc. Can I run an older version as I never had problems with that with my other 2 macs? thanks

Re: Mac crash

Yes, downgrade.

Sorry, it's hard to keep up to date with all the Mac stuff - and I think the Mac client gets less testing, simply because there are fewer Mac users out there.

Consider joining the BOINC alpha testers - a more reliable Mac client would be great, and you can help make it reliable.

Re: Mac crash

I downgraded and so far seems to work. I'll let it run overnight and try to pause it like I did before and see what happens. This lower version ran great on my mini so don't think any problems will arise. Thanks for the help.

Re: Mac crash

Well, I didn't make it through the night before another crash. Might not be boinc though. It might be temp monitor program I am using. I will try boinc with out it and see what happens. I did down grade so now thinking its something else.
