Hi everyone,
I'm new to the WCG community and I have a few noob questions. 1. I'm using BOINC to crunch WCG but I have waited 3 days for my stats to show up at "BoincStats.com" but no success. Am I doing something wrong? 2. I understand what "BOINC Cross-Project Id" is, but what is the "BOINC Account Key" that shows up at my grid profile? 3. How do I use "BOINC Account Key"? I understand crunching data for WCG is for a good cause but I also do it for the fun of competition. (No credits = fun) I would hate to have to leave because I can't get any credit for my PC's work. Thank you all for your time and help. |

1. It does take a little time for credit to be awarded, and then for the 3rd party sites like BOINCStats to catch up. If you are returning results successfully, then you have nothing to worry about. Check on your work in progress here: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewBoincResults.do
2. The account key used to be needed to attach to a project. It has been replaced by your username and password. 3. You will only ever need your account key if you are setting up BOINC manually, or attaching to WCG using the command line. Hope those were the answers you wanted. |

Thank you for your reply. I need clarification by what you said in answer #3 when you said that I would only need the key if I was setting it manually.
2.1 What is setting up manually BOINC with key? 2.2 What is this "attaching a project" I keep seen people comment about in the forum? Thank you again for your time. |

2.1 People installing on Linux, or setting up BOINC on a large network may need the account key. Most people never need it.
2.2 Attaching to a project is what happens when you set up BOINC to run World Community Grid projects. If you got BOINC from WCG, then I think it does this automatically. Otherwise, there's a wizard that asks for the project URL (www.worldcommunitygrid.org) and your username and password. You can launch the wizard again by clicking on "Add project" (or "Tools->Attach to project" if you use the advanced view). |

This is really good info and I thank you for taking the time to answer them. I'm going to give WCG another full 24 hours to show up my stats at BOICstats.com but then if I don't see anything it will be good bye "World Community Grid"
I can't believe such a great cause, pretty website, nice forum, with powerful sponcers can't get this simple thing like showing BOINC Stats quickly. Is a shame that a cheap looking website like Rosetta@home can get it right. |

Do you crunch at any other project under the name you post here? Cant find you anywhere in the global x-project statistics.... you mentioned Rosetta, but see nothing for you there.
----------------------------------------What is the date on your 'my grid' page graphs that show the first points from BOINC validated results? Usually the first validation takes 3-4 days from starting BOINC at WCG project.

So Jacob,
----------------------------------------* Did you get a confirming email from WCG? * Did you use at least the same email address (in lower case) as used for your 2 other projects? That is essential! If these are okay, it's time to do a Contact_US: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/viewContactUs.do Hitting that link should bring up your present email address known to WCG and extracted from your My Grid profile (when logged in). cheers

In that case, open up your Opening Post aka OP, by hitting the little pencil next to the Opening (1st) Post title and insert [CLOSED] before the original Post Title. Than all know the problem was solved, all by it self ;>), when looking thru the forum thread lists.
----------------------------------------Happy crunching
