I had already set my hard drive space to 10 gigabytes. I think the key to a higher score is to set the priority of Rosetta in the task manager to high. I did this a little while ago and now I am processing much faster. From what I have been told the processor score is determined at the time a new WU is downloaded and the score is based on how much percentage of processor power is available to work on protein folding. Since changing the processing priority to high I think I will get a much higher score the next time I download a WU.

Several Points:
----------------------------------------Please post only processor scores here. You will then be able to see them all in tabular formats by clicking on the "Processor Scores" in my sig line below. Please use the following format (makes my job easier) Processor Score (as displayed by the WCG Agent) CPU Type (CPU Model as displayed by WCG Agent) Processor Clocking in Ghz (as displayed by WCG Agent) Processor name (marketing name) Examples: Example 1: 168 AMD 0662 1.7 GHz XP2000+ Example 2: 206 Intel Pentium 4 3.1 GHz P4 Northwood Example 3: 99 Intel Pentium 4 1.5 GHz P4 If you want to include additional information, Please do, but after the 4 lines (as shown in the examples). Also, please restrict reporting to the newer models as we already have enough reports on the older models. Thank You all very much. ![]() |

User:Karlsson CPu SCORE:170 WCG Name: AMD OF5A 1.8 Ghz. Processor 2 x AMD OPteron 244 Frec: 1.8 Ghz OC: No This I dont undertand, I have a powerfull pair of processors but I have much lower scores just because I have less Mhz! |

----------------------------------------Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.01 GHz (OC: 3.22/3.46) P4 Grantsdale I know, I know, I should have waited a month for nforce4 SLI to come out, then I could buy AMD, but I was too impatient and went with the available intel 925X instead... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 28, 2005 12:16:43 AM] |

does the processor scoring system actually measure performance or does it just read what windows reports as your cpu and base your score off of that?
It doesn't make sence that my p4 is clocked at 3.4 ghz but people with athlon xp 2.8 are beating my score of 189 |

The processor score is computed by running a short test and seeing how long it takes. This can be affected by other competing processes. As for the difference between the Intel Pentium 4 and AMD chips, they use very different architectural pipelines. Yes, AMD chips can match Intel chips while running at lower clock speeds. AMD has made several good guesses about architectural design in the last 4 or 5 years. The traditional problem with AMD has been with its dependance on 3rd-party support chipsets, which have often been buggy. It has been helped lately by Nvidia's Nforce chipsets, which are putting pressure on other manufacturers to improve their support chipsets. Intel can provide everything, which forces 3rd-party suppliers for Pentium systems to maintain high quality.
