Bearcat, go to the tasks tab and cancel the problem FCG downloads. Than go to the transfer tab and cancel the problem files. They, the FCG project files, can't recover once download is broken.

You mean suspend or abort? Possibly abort, I think. Then in the tranfer tab, choose 'abort transfer'. Some of the translations to foreign languages of BOINC are funny....translate it back and they become even funnier. Abort in Italian 'Terminazione'....hi Arnold, but translate it back and u get Ending...always keep my thesaurus handy..... it says Cancel :O

The outage is over - thank you for your patience. We put in some new monitors to detect this condition but they seem to have not detected it when it occurred for real so we will be examining this issue further as well as trying to prevent the root cause in the future. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=11601 What do you guys need monitors for? You have us! I lucked into that retry app 8 hours ago and it worked after a couple tries. Seems there is a benefit to being a stubborn mick afterall. ![]() ![]() |

I am having problems downloading genome WU's on another machine. I get the "MD5 check failed" message. I've aborted those WU's and will stop running the genome project until this matter is straightened out.

The new workunits that we are loading in for Genome Comparison on BOINC will not use the compression. This will resolve the download problems that members have been experiencing. We will be working with BOINC to resolve this problem properly for the long term. In the short term we think that we may be able to get around this problem by making some changes to the servers so that these uninterrupted transfers handled in a way that will let the download actually complete. These changes will take a couple of weeks to get in place.

I did not upgrade to 5.8 so am still using 5.4.11. I also have not been experiencing the download problem. Is the problem related mostly to the new 5.8 ? |

I am using 5.4.11 and I also had the problem on three machines. I terminated(aborted) the problem units and all took off just fine. I had this problem previously so I knew what to do to get back to normal.
