Re: Moving WCG agent to another system?

for what it's worth, I think that one of the things required to make that work is that the new installation must be into the same directory/path that was used for the original installation. It looks like the path is included in some of the temporary / working files. So if you originally installed it into E:\stuff\WCG, then you would need to install it into E:\stuff\WCG on the new computer.

If anyone wanted to move it to a different directory, then I would try setting disk space in your profile to be 10 MB, and let the current workunit complete. THe 10MB setting will keep you from downloading a new workunit. Then copy hte config files. Set the disk usage in your profile back a higher setting to allow downloading a new workunit.
I haven;t tried this so can not say if it will work, but I think some step like that would be required to move to a different directory and not throw away progress.

cool Re: Moving WCG agent to another system?

There has been a recent change. It is no longer posible to specify 10 MB disk storage. This was causing problems for some people who selected it, not realizing that the Human Proteome Folding Project required more. All the storage sizes that can be chosen allow a Work Unit to execute.

Re: Moving WCG agent to another system?

Seems to be working ok. Has done two more (small) work units. I did notice that the disk size is now .98Gb..where it was higher before, but no apparent probs. So all seems to have worked so far.

Cheers

Actually that sounds reassuring to me. The server is supposed to keep track of device installations. By default, it only shows your devices for 1 week after installation and/or 2 weeks after returning a result, but you can change that on your device statistics page by playing with the drop-down menus.
