Gawd!!!
And AMD turns it's nose up at me when I try to upgrade my BIOS. I'm running a Duron 1.6GHz, on an Apollo chipset mboard. cool Still, while being totally green w/envy, my little abacus does quite well for it's generation. It is one of the Silicon Spice originals!

Can you say a machine that will crank 25K+ a day in WCG?
Thats no BS and thats at 3000/8mb/1333 and there's more left in this beast!

Great stuff Movieman.

I take it that you are using a 64 bit OS with that 8MB. I hope you dont mind me being nosey and asking which one and did you have any problems running BOINC/WCG with it ? Thanks.

Edit: What a dummy I am. biggrin Just realised that would have been 8GB the way I was thinking. 8MB must be the cache. Ignore me. laughing

Actually,no..Win2K2 Enterprise for now. I may switch to win64.
No problems with the install. Needed the lastest bios from Supermicro to see all 4 gig of memory. Was seeing 2.75 gig with the older bios.
Runs sweet with no issues at all besides dealing with the heat of those 2 cpu's. Using an older Supermicro cube server case modded with 4-120's stacked on top of one another bringing air in and a 120x38 sunon exhausting plus the back of the case is like swiss cheese so there is no airflow issue. Using coolermaster 3U passive HS's with Vantec tornadoes attached.

And Phickus: 2 new "Hoes" huh? Good for you! wink
Get a Thermaltake Big Typhoon, some good DDR2-6400 or better ram and clock that sucker to 3400+..Should do between 5000-6000 a day.

Re: Anyone lucky enough to get one of these for Christmas?

I just ordered a QX6700 as well, I finally found a retailer in Canada who had some in stock. I already have a Gigabyte DS3 motherboard and Swiftech water cooling so as soon as it gets here I'll pop it in and crank it up. I'm hoping for 3.6GHz+ for 24/7 crunching duty! biggrin

You and others with similar machines are the backbone of DC projects.
THANK you for your efforts.
