If you need an anonymous proxy to connect through (note that World Community Grid allows you to connect through a proxy)
just grab Charon which scours for free anonymous proxy...I'm not sure of the legality of the program...but whatever. It's useful! ![]() |

It's useful! ![]() There's no need for an anonymous proxy. Anyone from Cuba who wants can join in, they just can't set their home country as Cuba, as it's not on the list. So pick another country or stay undeclared. No biggie. |

Just to put things in perspective all country/religion based Team's are equally excluding. I...am not happy with the rampant jingoism...and virtual sabre rattling...Dave Generally speaking, any of the teams (religious, nationality, company, website **cough** slashdot **cough**) are friendly competitions that ultimately mean nothing towards the end results of the research, just ways to crunch the stats to keep us "tuning-in" and keeping the grid running... Personally, I think punishing the Grid for excluding Cuba is a case of barking up the wrong tree, but either way, the politics involved are not the same thing as the "politics" of the grid teams...

Heheh, I joined the Slashdot team because that's where I read about WCG. :)
But this Cuba thing is kinda sad... I hope WCG will try to rectify it somehow, if only to put the "world "back into WCG. But like others, I see no significant reason to stop using WCG because of this. |

Heheh, I joined the Slashdot team because that's where I read about WCG. :) So did I, but after 4 results I noticed Team Slashdot was sooooo far ahead of everyone else, the competition was like shooting fish in a barrel, so I defected to Team Canada, just to have something to shoot for... ![]() which kinda proves my point about team politics, now that I think about it...

Whilst the ability to download the software doesn't worry me (there's always ways around it), what has got me concerned is will the same restrictions apply to the results and/or possible projects?
