David Autumns

David...

Wow. Don't know where to begin on that one. It's all so very backward and wrong.

So you don't agree with my style of competition and creativity as a method of brainstorming possibilities and inspiring thought and encouraging understanding. No big deal. I'm not trying to steal away your team members, as you made it clear early on that recruiting members was a high priority.

UNiRAC...
Thanks. I hope you taught your son's well in regards to the divorce realm. ?

Re: David Autumns

Stirring up false information and raising unneeded questions in newbies minds on what is happening while they are running the ud agent is not productive. Pouring cold water on the effectiveness of this venture is not productive. Slagging other members in the forum on their race, on their sexuality, on their grasp of language is not productive.

This is the "World Community Grid" a high aim of the World joining together as one.

If people want to join my team then all well and good. I'm not on some ego trip. It's just nice to see our little team rising through the ranks.

When have you ever posted an encouraging post towards the common good of this worthwhile project?

It's a challenge

Regards
Dave

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears.

I think killing small children and running over puppies is a terrible thing. Most of us here try our best to be good citizens and every so often there will be some nutjob that comes along and wants to destroy that which we try to so hard to protect. blah blah blah...rant rave rant rave...The sun rises in the east sets in the west, bears crap in the woods..blah blah blah

I hope you found that as enlightening as I did from the post above.

BTW, Interesting use of the word "slagging".

My reaction

Personally, my take on NoMad's post at the beginning of this thread to be just humor. Given his/her other posts, it could be taken as veiled criticism, but my take is still humor.

Note to NoMad - most people would feel that your sensitivity to others is way too low.

No this wasn't suppose to be funny. This is serious stuff here. I mean we're talkin' alien technology being ran on millions of computers across the world! Pretty soon our harmonious endeavors to work together to solve all the world's problems will make the planet ripe for the alien take-over. Sure it starts out as a harmless protein here and a harmless protein there..but before you know it the gubment will be spiking the water with protein stuff tellin' us it's for our own good...yeah, like that that flouride stuff they've been putting in the water supply for the last few decades...you know that stuff is a byproduct of nuclear waste? It's true. Look it up. It whitens your teeth and bones but it also causes a significant drop in IQ. Next time you get a drink of water and it tastes like a radiated protein shake just remember what I've been tellin' ya here son.

Re: This should answer everyone's questions...

In regards to what happens when the program completes the work unit.

Any attempt to download or upload anything objectionable will result in authorities attaching an unremovable "shock collar" and further wrong-doings will result in a swift and painful electrical shock and will increase per offense and type of offense.

All households will be required to have ultra sensitive listening devices in each room and must always remain visible to the heat signature reading of the webcams. Failure to maintain visual contact will result in wearing shock-collar, and any additional violations will result of course in painful "shocks".

I hope that answers everyone's questions.
This is the new world order my friends...Now, crunch away, crunch away

Come on guys, that is kinda funny...

Didn't I see this on Star Trek Epsiode 46????

I bid 20,000 quatloos on the newcomers.... alien 1

Re: This should answer everyone's questions...

I can relate somewhat to No-MAD's problem of his humor not being taken as humor. I once had a neighbor who kept exotic birds as pets. One day she and I were talking in my front yard and she was going on and on about the high cost of bird food. I picked up my cat and said that I didn't think bird food was too expensive, and that I frequently bought a big bag of bird food and spread it out in the back yard because it was cheaper than buuying cat food. I thought this quite humourous, but she found it to be quote offensive.

At first I didn't read all of No-MAD's first post in this thread, partly because I thought it was some paranoid rant, and partly because I have a short attention span and it was a long post wink but after reading it all it does seem like it is hard to take it serious. However, I still have a bit of anxiety about running the WCG agent on my computers, and I expect that other existing and potential members do too. We are running software on our PCs that can autonomously download and run software on our computers. I don't even let Windows update do that automatically, so claims about malicious intent in the software that I have chosen to trust aren't inherently funny.

A couple of things that might help people from getting upset about threads like this are:
- Use smilies. Sometimes the written word can be interpreted in different ways depending on the perspective of the reader. a wink or a smile can be an indicator that the words are intended to be hunorous, laughing
- This appeared in the Member to Member support forum, which put it in with serious posts. Maybe we need another forum, some sort of recreational lounge where members can post up humor and general items of community interest that are not related to the care and feeding of the WCG project.
- Remember that the reason we are members here is to support the project. Calling each other names may make you feel cool, but it just increasses hostility and hurts the project. We all have different outlooks, but consider that all members are part of the overall WCG team, and each of us is deserving of respect. We can disagree without calling each other childish names.

anyway, that's my spin on it all, sorry for the long post (in case someone else has my same short attention span problem wink )

Re: This should answer everyone's questions...

Thanks for clearing this up for us No-MAD. I always knew there was more to this than what they telling us.

No-MAD

If this thread was conducted in a room, around a table with the contributors to this post in attendance, do you think thay you would be quite so glib of tongue.

I think not.

You would do better scoring points by crunching work units as opposed to trying to score points at the expense of upsetting other members of this forum.

I am sure there are a lot of members here that find you quite funny.

However there also seems to be a lot of members that appear to be quite p????d off with you, and you might be well advised to tone it down a little

I am sure if you continue to be so controversial that the members here will stop replying to your posts.

Come back out of the cold before it is too late.

Dont feel compelled to give me a smart ass reply to this post as i will not rise to your bait.

Regards

<GRAHAM>

Graham - the person not the cracker

Yeah yeah yeah... "If this thread was conducted in a room"...yadda yadda...

What if the thread was conducted around a campfire...
What if the thread was conducted underwater while scuba diving...
What if the thread was conducted on a plane while it was crashing...

What if the thread was conducted in a room, around a table with the contributors of the Alien conspiracy in attendance, do you think that you would be quite so glib of tongue.

Here's a Texas quarter, go buy yourself a nice sense of humor as a holiday gift from yours truly
