Re: No Longer Receiving Work from WCG

Should I use the debt viewer to clear the debt?

Unless you are willing to wait 35 days for WCG work and 105 days for Rosetta work, I would say yes.

To reset the debts of all projects do the following:

1. Reset Seti's Resource back to 100, making sure it is 100 in Boinc Manager
2. Stop Boinc. Open Task Manager and check System Idle Process, it should be about 98% if Boinc is stopped.
3. Open BoincDV and click Clear Debt.
4. Close BoincDV
5. Open BoincDV again to make sure the debts have cleared. If so, close BoincDV and goto step 6. If not, click Clear Debt again and go back to step 4.
6. Start Boinc.

If the debts are cleared, it should start requesting work from WCG, Rosetta, & Predictor again. Predictor has no work, but the other 2 projects should receive work now.

Re: No Longer Receiving Work from WCG

The complete reset of the STD/LTD for projects does not harm.

Additionally, as the deadline, not debt line, is different for most projects, u are best in visiting the unofficial BOiNC Wiki http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Work_Scheduler . It provides a formula for optimizing the contact frequency, which should always be smaller than the shortest project deadline, which in my case is Tanpaku, who has 3 days. My LTDs are so off the scale, yet the Short Term Debt ensures that work still gets allocated proportionally to the weight they have. The essence though is, once you are happy with the settings, hands off altogether..... even when it itches.

Further, if the duration correction factor (DCF) is always much higher than 1 i.e. the benchmark not reflecting reality of speed of work, u will likely walk into the wall again..... it's still hands off. Find post on discussion of this criteria.

Just a few items that work into the determination if work is pulled for a particular project or any project at all.

Re: No Longer Receiving Work from WCG

Guys, thanks so much for this advice. I reset the debts, and all projects picked right up and started sending work. I wish the Rosetta message boards could have helped me this way two months ago when it quit sending.

I know nothing about debts and will read the wiki content to get a better understanding, but the only thing that matters is why did the debts get so out of whack? I've done nothing unusual with this agent that I know of--I more or less ignored it until I noticed projects not sending work. It would seem that whatever the reason, the agent could/should be better designed to keep this from happening or take steps on its own to fix problems that develop.

In any event, things are back to normal and I really appreciate the great advice and help....
