Will the results of this be free to the public, or will someone patent them? I can't in good conscience give a company this sort of information when I could be fighting spam with my screensaver.

This is best answered on the WCG page "About Us" which you see on the banner above. I quote from that page: "World Community Grid is making technology available only to public and not-for-profit organizations to use in humanitarian research that might otherwise not be completed due to the high cost of the computer infrastructure required in the absence of a public grid. As part of our commitment to advancing human welfare, all results will be in the public domain and made public to the global research community." Now that you see that it is in the public domain, I hope that I can welcome you aboard. |
