Given the importance of this project, would it not be possible to get Yahoo, Google, et al, to provide reduced cost advertising of the project itself and also get sites such as www.download.com, www.nonags.com, etc to include the software on their front pages as a feature product, after all, it can be called a screensaver that doubles as a lifesaver.
In respect of the advertising, perhaps sponsorship from pharmaceutical companies whom would benefit from the processed data would buy same or it could be done on a donation basis the same as Mozilla Firefox and their New York Times advert. I myself stumbled across this project quite by accident whilst surfing but have now run it continuously on my computer with out any detriment to performance in running of any other software so I feel that it needs exposure to get more people on board. The SETI project worked because it made people feel like Fox Mulder, this project could work on a bigger scale for better reasons. Just a thought. Good Luck. P.S. What will projects for processing such as Human Proteome Folding, come on stream one by one once each project is complete, is this the only project or will there be a time when it is possible to choose between projects or even run multiple projects? |

This post suddenly popped up after I finished posting on a similar topic in http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=924 [Grin] But adding my take on multiple follow-on projects, I remember that there is an unused checkbox beside the Human Proteome Folding Project in the Profile section. This is clearly redundant when we are starting up with one project, but indicates that the WCG is thinking ahead to a future in which multiple projects will be available.
