Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

2 hours later all the PC's/Servers updated and all appear to be working as they were before the update tired

what with anti virus updates anti spyware updates (4 varieties) registry cleaners defrag motherboard driver updates sound card updates graphics card updates the constant 35 meg iTiunes updates the annoying acrobat updates Ghost backups to keep a copy of everything updated up to date.

Its a wonder I find the time to earn a living to keep the hardware up to date

OK I have more PC's than your average bear boo-boo but that's 2 hours per month which is more than a 1/4 of 1% of your life given over to this insanity - just Bill's not that other "junk" above.

The little mac looks like a better bet every month (Intel Core Duo)

Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

In Italy, patch Tuesday is actually Wednesday, as the translations are always a tad behind. Took the plunge....allowed apply all but the malware removal tool, which actually is responsible for many a post update problem. I'm happy with 3rd party cleaners (freeware) to keep MSFT honest.

Tweaked that irritating shield with help of some tip on TechRepublic to not nag me until I think the time is rife to boot, tonight.....it works, just sitting in the systray smile

Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

I think with patch Tuesday, MSFT's "Eolas i dont want to pay you, which will make the rest of the world suffer' permanent and unstoppable 'critical' fix has started to kick in. Lots of prominent websites not reachable or only show parts, starting Wednesday/Thursday last week.....no and its not the Firefox browser, unless MSFT has applied an unsolicited fix for Mozilla also confused

Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

all they offered me last tuesday was a single "critical" patch for Windows Genuine.

as for microsoft fixing FireFox, i believe they do. i have had to delete & re-up firefox a couple times right after patch day to get it normal. with 17% of market share someone ought to make microsoft update available on other browsers besides IE too.

Hold on CT. Help is on the way. When I win the lottery I'm going to buy Microsoft lock, stock and barrel, fire all the employees and burn the joint to the ground. Then I'm going to give away free Linux install CDs. No need to thank me, it's just the kind of guy I am.

shock Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

The Genuine Article Check: Another WGA failure laughing

Most interesting this round was that WAU offered in fact only 2 updates (in italian and 24 hours early as reported in prior post). The handblocked WGA, for which there is an uninstall utility btw, and one critical fix. Then, last night hit the IEtab option in Firefox to get to the official page as the press had reported 10 fixes, and all of a sudden 8 more critical offerings were listed......don't trust WAU to give u the complete unadulterated collection.....or maybe they were not finished translating first time around.....what a bunch of .... [expletives not in the merken listing]

The message here: Had i not hand run it, i would have had potentially 8 holes lumbering for another month......glad i use a NoScripted, Adblocked, Popupsuppressing,Antiphishing,AntiSpoof,RIP extended Mozilla product.

good luck
