Good morning all,

A quick peek at the WCG Stats shows a new Team WCG record yesterday with 29,937 PC's on all day making about 89 TeraFlops of raw number crunching potential which would put us in 3rd spot for the fastest supercomputers on the planet (Can't quite remember who makes the No1 and No2 wink)

Hi Pconfig glad to see you are feeling better

Those 3000+ points per day have helped little old MOT to over a million in the last 4 days shock shock shock

1,005,665 to be precise - it was a close call and as you can see every little bit helps. Great crunching Team

Still looking for more volunteers who can lend a hand.

Anyone out there with a PC sitting twiddling it's thumbs you are more than welcome to join the biggest hearted bunch of crunchers on the World Community Grid.

Your potential team cap'n Dave nerd

that points score btw equates to an Athlon XP 1140000+ equivalent to a 1.14 TeraHertz P4

about 1.2 TeraFlops of raw number crunching capability

Or slightly easier to get you head around 10,475 points per hour !!!!

about 356 PC's like my 3200+ Athlon powered cruncher I'm using to type this post on - on all day.

Tell me we're not a cool team together

Dave

Pconfig --
Yep -- and you beat the official announcement by about 16 minutes! I recommend that folks check out the minimum requirements for the new project. They are a bit higher than was the case for the Human Proteome Folding project. For the FAAH project they are:
For FightAIDS@Home, the minimum requirements are:

...At least a 550MHz Intel Pentiumâ„¢ processor or equivalent
...At least 250 MB RAM (with virtual memory enabled)
...600 MB Hard Disk Drive with at least 50 MB available for use
...The ability to display 8-bit graphics at 800x600 resolution
...An Internet connection with minimum 40 kbps speed
...Operating System: Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP

My old Pentium 3 system doesn't meet the minimums so I had to set the Device Profile it uses to only select from the Human Proteome Folding project.

Dave,

i don't think you need to set that. You PIII will just leave those workunits alone.

Got a new AIDS work unit

I was expecting a bigger download only around 800K which is about normal.

I'm sure the folk at IBM would like some feedback. Post your experiences here

The description says

Your machine is finding how well one of the many potential drug molecules fits into the pockets of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus Protease. The best molecules found will be lab tested, and could lead to new drugs in the fight against AIDS.

Congratulations to the Team at IBM on the start of Project 2

We're in this for the long run.

Dave
