The other big tip is to WET where you want it to tear - you can make a shape if you wet it, let it soak in, and the gently separate.

Can you tell I taught a class - an entire two hours - on PAPER TEARING way back when??? LOL

Thanks for the tips Sher! I will have to try them!

Oh man!!! I knew it!
Do stickers count as a technique or do you want me to pick something else?:)

I have another question. What's an extraction?

Yes, I think using stickers counts. :) An extraction is the digi term for cutting a photo from its' background.

You mean there is a proper way to tear paper? Maybe that's why mine doesn't look right most times! I've ruined too many a sheet!

I didn't even notice the extraction the first time I looked at your layout. After you told me what it was I looked at the layout and the extracted photo practically jumped off of the page at me. You did an awesome job. That looks great!!!

Not sure how you can ruin it, that's what it's supposed to look like! the first time I EVER tore a page it was hard, btu I love that page, it's still one of my fave pages. Yes, you can direct your tears, or you can just rip it up and go for it!!

Good luck ladies!! y'all are cracking me up!!

OK...here goes. I said I don't get the concept of recoloring....so I had to find a tutorial, and I used one I found by Penny Springmann. It took me step by step, and I managed to finish this!

The original color of the background paper was this.....

I didn't want the green hue, so managed to make it more neutral to better suit my wedding album.

It isn't a huge change like to a whole kit, but I am pleased that I managed to achieve it! This is definitely something I will work on to get more adept at in the future. Thanks for a great challenge Laura!

Re: MMC June 17 - Challenge 2
I am not comfortable with stamping. I will stamp a sentiment on a card, or something small like a paw print on a layout. But full blow stamping scares me. So I bit the bullet and went for it!

The floral border is Inkadinkadoo. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from Stampabilities. The "To You!!" are individual letters stamped (unknown manufacturer). Same with the confetti.

Here's mine. I have a hard time doing a LO from scratch; not using a sketch or scrap lifting. But I did this one from scratch. Image

Kim (Killarney Rose) gave me a wonderful tutorial via PM. And this is as far as I got. I bit off a couple projects bigger than I could chew this week, but I tried!
Image I plan to start next week without as much on my plate so I can try some more.

My Trouble technique - "I agree with the hand stitching. I've only done it a few times and its come out pretty wonky!

I had one of those tiny paper sewing machines and broke it first time out!"

So I did a LO with hand stitching. Thank Goodness there is a great photo in there! LOL
One thing I do love about this page, it uses ONLY threading and cardstock. And then I "journaled" song lyrics. Inexpensive but impactual.

Re: MMC June 17 - Challenge 2
Here's mine. I said that hand stitching is difficult for me, mainly because I don't have a stitching tool and I have to place the holes and such by hand, and then stitch. Well, I did, and the more I do it, the easier it's getting - practice makes perfect! Thanks for the challenge!!

Oh, the stitching is the orange slash marks on the edges of the green polka dot papers.
