Seems to be fine now. I havn't got any new WUs, but BOINC probably thought I have enough other stuff already here. The messages were:
Son 19 Nov 2006 20:43:13 CET|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request to https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi
Son 19 Nov 2006 20:43:13 CET|World Community Grid|Reason: Requested by user
Son 19 Nov 2006 20:43:13 CET|World Community Grid|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)
Son 19 Nov 2006 20:43:18 CET|World Community Grid|Scheduler request succeeded

And as no further error occured, I suppose everything's fine.

Re: Project down? What happened?

That's correct Saenger, but that said, if u force a manual update, they usually will not call for new work..... that's something a routine in the scheduling delays.... wait 10 minutes and it might come by itself.... watch that counter in the projects page ;>)

Re: Project down? What happened?

Here is one for anybody who can answer it for me.
My WCG grid started on a new task, but hasn't gone past the 0 mark in at least 24+ hours.
Is there anyway to shut it down or to remove the task so it will upload a new task?

Re: Project down? What happened?

Hi largethunder,
You do not mention which project you are running. Is it the Genome Comparison 0% problem that knreed solves in this post: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=9921#77284 ?

In any case, using Abort Task from BOINC Manager should get you a new work unit.

Or kill the application program for the project that you are running. (Clumsy, but effective)

Re: Project down? What happened?

You can also try shutting down BOINC and restarting. I'm seeing some problems with work units stalling in BOINC and shutting down/restarting fixes the problem.

Re: Project down? What happened?

Guys/Girls, its absolute key to state which project u make the observation.... FAAH, HDC, HPF2 or GC and which agent (and version if BOiNC) and what OS.

The problem of file feeder not sending new work, as 1 of the 2 there are, not returning to action, meaning 50% of the clients were still getting work. These 2 file feeders are normally load balanced.

cheers

PS. As an aside, when HPF2 comes back to BOiNC, it is scheduled to also use file compression during transmission i.e. 5.4, preferably 5.4.9/5.4.11 depending on operating system.

Re: Project down? What happened?

We probably have a server(s) outage since about 9:12 UTC Nov.26, 2006. If by 14:00 UTC still so, give this thread a bump. It's nighttime where the WCG server room is located.

thanks

biggrin
The server is taken down every Sunday at 0800 UTC for backup and then any scheduled maintenance: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1534

It's up now.
